We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points.""The single dashboard is a valuable feature."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Pros →

"I like that it provides an overall view of our network. From the topology view to every event, we can view it. We can also see the interface utilization for future capacity planning. It fits our use case and environment.""The solution is stable.""A highly scalable solution.""It's good for root cause analysis for network problems and network link problems.""It is straightforward to configure, and you can quickly gather data from your infrastructure.""The AI is the best feature in this solution."

More DX NetOps Pros →

"The feature I like is that it can easily do a lot of mapping.""From a network point of view, we can see the state of the network, as well as bandwidth usage and downtime.""The sensors and remote probes are phenomenal. We use them for all of our global sites. The problem with our global sites are that they are all VPNs. If the link goes down, you can't monitor other solutions, as it just goes off the grid. Having remote probes allows them to still carry on and get the information that we need when it comes back up, sending the information to us.""Network Discovery is a feature that our customers like a lot.""Stable and scalable network monitoring tool. Installation is simple and straightforward.""The authentication links into our standard Active Directory authentication, which is very good.""It's very easy to manage when you've got time to do some work on it: things like adding devices, adding groups, adding sensor clusters, and being able to clone and move stuff around.""The bandwidth monitoring is a very attractive feature, it can tell you the bandwidth utilization while it is attempting to connect to the host for feedback."

Cons
"The technical support needs improvement.""The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"One improvement that could make the product better is to streamline its modules into a more cohesive solution.""It would be better if they had an NFA network analysis feature. We appreciate features like extended network security for bucket flows, but it would be better to have some IDs, IPS functionalities, DDoS, or something like that.""Technical support needs to be better. They need to be more knowledgeable and responsive.""Technical support could be more responsive.""Lacks dashboards and better integration with other solutions.""The hardware requirements can be improved."

More DX NetOps Cons →

"We have had a few issues with the web elements, as far as the dashboard. With the dashboard, it has to be manually refreshed. Occasionally, we reboot the server, or at least web services, due to the web aspect.""The scalability of this solution could improve as well as the automated provisioning of the infrastructure.""PRTG Network Monitor needs to show bandwidth utilization in proper graphs. It isn't easy to learn.""I wouldn't mind better categories for the sensors. When I go to add a new sensor for a new device, there are some categories in there already, and they can be filtered out, but there's quite a large pool of sensors... When I want to go in and find something quite specific, I have got to scroll down and scroll down to find what I'm actually looking for,""I would like to see Office 365 monitoring. Essentially, it doesn't do it. I assumed not at all, but apparently it does it slightly. However, due to issues with APIs, they currently don't provide full monitoring for O365.""Their penetration within the market could be much better. If their pricing was lower, even though it's reasonable now, it might help them achieve this.""The inventory of the device should be improved.""We're using more cloud services now. It would be useful to be able to get information back from these cloud services in detail, and display any issues within PRTG for the rest of our systems."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
