Prisma Cloud is praised for its competitive pricing, ease of deployment, comprehensive security capabilities, and top-notch customer service. On the other hand, F5 Advanced WAF receives mixed opinions on pricing, setup cost, and licensing, but is valued for its robust security features, customizable policies, and responsive customer support.
The summary above is based on 138 interviews we conducted recently with Prisma Cloud by Palo Alto Networks and F5 Advanced WAF users. To access the review's full transcripts, download our report.
"This solution inspects your traffic and based on that, automatically create distinct qualities for you, so you can add this to the policy already created. That's what I like most."
"We can monitor IP locations, but we have constraints from each country. It has a replication feature. Licenses can be shared, taking turns with each license."
"The most valuable feature of F5 Advanced WAF is its grand unity of the implementation, where you have the freedom to configure based on how it affects your use case or your organization. With the default setting of implicit deny, you can gradually start defining and deploying the tool to align with your environment, whether it is outdated, recent, or futuristic. This allows you to customize the solution to protect you from threat actors. You have the ability to define what the advanced threat act should do - whether it should alert, deny, or both - and it will deliver based on your configuration. Unlike other online solutions, F5 Advanced WAF provides flexibility to deliver to your unique environment the way you want."
"The most valuable features of F5 Advanced WAF are the overall capabilities, there is not a comparable solution on the market."
"It also has antivirus and DDoS mitigation capabilities. We have enabled these features."
"The support experience is better than average."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the WAF protection, Data Safe, and the seven-layer DDoS."
"Customers find the load balancer feature as the most valuable."
"We found it to be easy and flexible. We could easily configure it for our needs, and we could spread the Prisma Cloud platform to 16 countries without encountering any kind of problem."
"Visibility is a key feature. Integration with other technologies across the board, whether they are Palo Alto technologies, Windows technologies, or cloud technologies, is probably the biggest thing."
"Prisma Cloud's most important feature is its auto-remediation."
"My favorite feature is the CWPP module. We can define various kinds of rules for vulnerabilities, incidents, or suspicious activities."
"The visibility on alerts helps you investigate more easily and see details faster."
"I was looking for a vulnerability scanner and I was looking for one place in which I could find everything. This tool not only does vulnerability scanning, but it also gives me an asset management tool."
"The framework to configure controls is pretty good; it's pretty sophisticated. We can implement a fair amount of testing for a fair number of controls."
"Cloud security posture management is the preferred feature among other vendors."
"The accuracy of the automatic learning feature needs improvement."
"F5 Advanced WAF could improve the precision of the scanning. There are many false positives. They should improve their threat database."
"Scalability could be improved."
"They should work on the virtualization of NGINX."
"The reporting portion of F5 Advance WAF is not great. They need to work out something better, as it is very basic. You only see the top IPs, I think there is more they can offer."
"You have to buy another module with an extra license, to have the authentication feature."
"The solution is tedious. It takes a lot of discrete settings so one needs to get detailed and granular when they use the solution. It takes you a whole lot of energy and concentration to configure. It needs to be much more straight-forward, like other web solutions."
"There is a learning curve that extends the time of implementation."
"There is room for improvement on the logging and monitoring front because it's still not as holistic as I would want it to be."
"The integration of the Compute function into the cloud monitoring function—because those are two different tools that are being combined together—could use some more work. It still feels a little bit disjointed."
"I would like Prisma Cloud to improve its mapping feature to increase usability."
"We would like it to have more features from the risk and compliance perspectives."
"The solution does not currently support servers for GCP."
"The automation capabilities are growing each day, but the problem is that the updates are not that frequent. There are some services on Amazon that have come out with updates, and Azure is also getting up to date. But Prisma takes some time to follow. There's a time gap that Prisma inherits from these clouds. I understand why it takes some time, but that time should be reduced."
"While Prisma provides a lot of visibility, it also creates a ton of work. Most customers that implement Prisma Cloud have thousands of alerts that are urgent."
"Areas like the deployment of their defenders and their central control need manual intervention. They should focus more on automation. They have a very generic case for small companies. However, for bigger companies to work, we have to do a lot of changes to our system to accommodate it. Therefore, they should change their system or deployment models so it can be easy to integrate into existing architectures."
