We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Pure FlashArray X NVMe has low latency and high Ops. It is an evergreen model.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use.""We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""The Pure1 component is most valuable at this point in time when comparing it with EMC. Pure1 is where you can have your diagnostics in the cloud, so you can look at things from your mobile phone.""The high availability of the product is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe will quickly overcome all the hurdles you face, including network and latency issues.""It's helped us because we've changed fundamentally what we talk about. We don't talk about storage and different tiers of storage anymore nor do we talk about servers. We talk now about applications and how applications impact the business and end users."

"The product's initial setup phase was easy.""When taking into account the price, maintenance required, and performance of HPE Primera, it is an effective solution.""The performance is very good.""The most valuable feature of HPE Primera is its performance and simple replication.""The product is stable.""In my opinion, HPE is making good progress and moving ahead with InfoSight, which is predictive analytics and artificial intelligence.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of deployment.""The interface is simplified."

"Scalable and stable storage array.""The price of this solution is good.""We are satisfied with the stability.""The solution offers very good reliable systems and storage for our clients.""The product’s quality of service guarantees the performance of each workload.""The FlexClone feature is the solution's most valuable aspect.""The most valuable feature of the Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series is its ability to store data well.""Ability to cluster two storages together with HA availability."

Cons
"We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC.""Many options to check performance, like read, writes, random writes, and random reads, are missing in Pure FlashArray X NVMe.""Right now, the box itself is just strictly working as a backend storage system. It would be fantastic if we could access it directly like a NAS device through network access or SIS drives. I think they have an interface, but I am not sure how good it is. If we could address a box directly on the network without having to go through a server, it would be great. The replication schemas could be improved. We are not using replication on the storage level right now. We use a different type of replication. If their replication would be as good as the one that we have, I would probably run the replication schema because it might be faster, but I don't know that for a fact. So, I cannot say that they have good replication. All I can say is that they need to inform us better.""In terms of what needs improvement, the dashboard and management could be simplified.""I'd like to see the product implement active replication for vehicles such as VMware.""It is on the expensive side.""I would like to see replication and DR features in the next release of this solution.""We have run into a couple of instances recently where we are running out of space. So we have had to buy some more packs for it and they have deployed fine and it has increased smoothly."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"The cost of HPE Primera could be lower.""We've encountered issues in the past where maintaining a read-only state is essential to prevent data encryption when VPN access is impacted.""This solution would be expensive for small business and it could be priced more competitively for that market.""The price of the product is an area of concern. From an improvement perspective, the solution should be made more affordable in terms of price.""We used to receive hardware errors a lot of times. The ambient temperatures rise rate was approximately 35 to 55 degrees, but when it was approximately 27 or 28, we used to get errors a lot.""We would like to have more flash storage and its stability. This is an area of challenge for us.""The interface needs to be more user-friendly in that sense that installation and management are still a bit on the high end.""The solution could improve by having seamless migration from other storage systems. The process should be made easier."

More HPE Primera Cons →

"I would like Lenovo to add a feature like IBM Easy Tier to DM Series. This is a crucial feature for the customers.""The solution needs a simpler licensing theme around the DM series. The problem is if you only need one of the features, you still have to buy the whole thing. The licensing needs to be more granular or flexible so you have the option to only license FlexCone or Inline Compression features.""Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series could improve by having a snapshot feature. Additionally, there can be other features added to help restore the data faster.""The solution should change the licensing model and allow customers to choose features based on their requirements.""This is an expensive solution.""Many people do not realize that Lenovo has a storage solution, so better marketing from the vendor is needed.""The licensing model needs to be revisited. It needs to be simplified.""The Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series was very hard to configure. Installation of the product was very hard. These are its areas for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The price of this solution is good for medium-sized and large businesses."
  • "From what I see, this is competitively-priced and HPE are doing their best to stay competitive."
  • "The price to capacity ratio is good."
  • "It is basically in the mid-range of the price. It is not cheaper than Hitachi, but it is cheaper than Pure Storage. There are no additional costs. Everything was taken care of in the price."
  • "Licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis and the cost of GreenLake service is included."
  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
  • "There is only a one-time license purchase needed and no additional costs. If HP could reduce the training cost, then that would be advantageous to the seller."
  • "The price of HPE Primera could improve, it is expensive."
  • More HPE Primera Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Lenovo offers two software tiers for the DM Series: basic and premium. If you need more features like the MetroCluster, you must buy the premium version. You can stick to the basic software if you don't need MetroCluster or features like asynchronous replication. That makes DM Series a little cheaper."
  • "The price of the Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series is good."
  • "The solution is highly-priced."
