We performed a comparison between HPE SimpliVity and HPE StoreVirtual based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, VMware, Nutanix and others in HCI."We like their high availability. It reduces the downtime for our entire organization's environment."
"The product gave us a cost-effective way to deploy a highly available server environment."
"The failover redundancy is why we bought this product and it has never let us down."
"We are able to execute maintenance on one server while the other is still running."
"We went from "no way DB applications would have good performance" to "Wow! We can now actually have a DB running and have some VMs running at the same time.""
"The fact that I can now count on a true failover solution is what is most appealing."
"The configuration is so much simpler than that of a traditional SAN with fewer points of failure to worry about."
"The ability for us to manage all of our nodes from the same console makes systems administration very easy."
"Backups happen very quickly."
"The backup feature is valuable, and replication is also valuable. It is very quick and easy to use."
"Dedupe, compression, and replication of primary and secondary data, locally and remotely."
"The features I have found most valuable are the convergence of the infrastructure and multi-platform support, for example, VMware and Hyper-V"
"The most valuable feature is that the product has an inborn backup."
"I like SimpliVity because it can be adapted for small clients or the biggest ones. It's flexible."
"SimpliVity has provided our organization with a cost effective DR/data protection solution."
"It's a very nice solution. It's a complete solution that we are looking for because we don't have personnel with expertise."
"he interface and the installation makes it easy as it's all in one piece of hardware and it doesn't need to be connected to anything else."
"The solution is very stable."
"All of the administrative tasks are easy and everything is centralized."
"The solution is quite stable. We haven't had any issues with glitches or bugs."
"The initial setup is straightforward, not a complex procedure."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is that it is hardware independent."
"Data is stored in two different places, leveraging more security and availability. Therefore, network problems are having less affect on iSCSI."
"It's very stable and it's easy to use."
"Android app for monitoring and receiving push notifications as alarms or monitoring I/O from any mobile device could be a good feature and nice to have as we are not always on our desk."
"For someone entering the IT sector with little knowledge of storage, iSCSI, and virtual disks, they might not find the GUI immediately obvious."
"The software could benefit from more tooling to help with initial deployment."
"An extended trial period would serve as a way to get clean insights into the technology's adaptability and alignment with their specific needs before committing to long-term integration."
"I would like to see some additional, and possibly clearer, implementation videos with some slower and possibly more detailed descriptions of what the various steps of implementation are for someone who is unfamiliar with high availability and failover clustering in Windows."
"When you will cease your contract with StarWind (for support) your product won't be updated and that is a big selling point, especially for us, as we have loads of products from StarWind."
"I would like to see more advanced free versions."
"The console is something that I believe could be enhanced."
"We definitely want to see more of the CLI commands come up to the GUI, and it is a legitimate question, if we are going to be happy with the integration in the vsphere web client, which is awfully slow."
"We had minor problems with the initial setup but it was with our internal infrastructure."
"There are some small changes that can be made to the interface to improve it but it typically works well."
"I would like to see it be a truly hybrid-cloud solution where I could take my on-prem SimpliVity environment and have replication to a cloud install."
"We had one call with technical support which was not completely answered to our satisfaction. We did not receive the right answer."
"Needs decoupling of distributed data fabric to run in a hyperscale deployment outside the hypervisor on dedicated nodes."
"HPE SimpliVity should cost less."
"SimpliVity has this thing where if a virtual machine is on the wrong node with two nodes, it will be optimized. However, if one of the nodes won't be optimized, then it will complain about that. It will give you a little warning to say the source is not optimized. Please move this to one of the other hosts. They should just add a little thing in SimpliVity to move all the VMs to the right host, because it is a pain to load balance across the three nodes when all these VMs are complaining and you have to move them to one."
"In our country, Qatar, most of the industry isn't using too much HP. StoreVirtual doesn't move fast. It's not a popular product."
"User interface could be improved."
"The initial setup could be simplified to make it easier for new users."
"The management aspect of the solution needs to be improved in order to make the product stronger."
"Hardware and disk failures are happening frequently."
"The solution needs to ensure it is on par with the industry in terms of availability of features and various other options."
"The product is coming to end-of-life in the next three years."
"f you're doing the 10Gb adapters, SFPs don't come with it, but it doesn't say that. It might say that somewhere else, but it's not clear."
