We performed a comparison between IBM BPM and Microsoft System Center based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Application Infrastructure solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."IBM BPM's most valuable features are its speed in implementing and providing any changes."
"There is a component of this BPM pool - I can't recall the name. What it does is, it allows you to create various scenarios and then run them quickly, before actually putting them onto a tool. So I think that part of the tool is really fantastic, because that enables you to create scenarios, create simulations, before actually going out and putting it into the tool itself"
"It excels at analytics. It provides visibility across all activities of a company's processes and performance."
"The system integration layer is valuable because this enables an organization to create a single point where all the key organizational master data is held in different IT applications across different functions, that can be accessed and updated."
"I liked its robustness the most. It was a very robust platform in my experience. It seemed like a very stable and powerful tool for handling lots of concurrent users and hammering at the system."
"The most valuable feature for the organization is the Document Store."
"Compliance with the BPMN 2.0 standard."
"It is being able to see the process, and understanding what the process is versus having to bury it in code somewhere."
"It can generate KPIs and management reports with monthly presentations on activities and updating the environment (success and failure)."
"Good for managing and administering the infrastructure."
"System Center helps to create the basis for ITIL alignment."
"Managment Packs for Microsoft-specific products, help us implement the best practices for each product."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ease of configuration and the easy discovery of the environment."
"I like the automated features of it that let you schedule those updates and the ability of the product to focus on the specific updates, specific platforms, and products that we're interested in keeping up to date."
"The availability performance matrix and the reporting capabilities are the solution's most valuable features."
"Many processes could be implemented out-of-the-box, and this helped to adopt processes in areas which we lacked."
"We would like better performance and more visibility on each step of the tool."
"The setup was quite complex because the solution was cutting-edge at that time and IBM invested considerably in the implementation, likely at a loss to themselves."
"IBM BPM needs to have a better and modified interface."
"IBM BPM is stable, but sometimes there are issues with the server."
"We are a government organization, and we are the largest government power sector in India. We generate around 30% of power in India. Therefore, our processes are quite complex. Although IBM BPM is a low-code or no-code software, if you want to have extremely complex workflows, just the business process diagrams are not helpful in creating those workflows. While implementing complex workflows, only the process flow diagrams did not help us. We had to write a lot of Java scripts and Java queries to achieve what we wanted. Its integration capabilities with the SAP environment have to be improved. At present, we are only talking at the web services environment level. Its price also needs to be improved. It is currently expensive. Previously, Active Directory required a heterogeneous environment, but now they want a homogeneous environment. We had onboarded employees through Microsoft Active Directory, and now I have to implement Microsoft AD only from the cloud for my vendors."
"Consider an admin console during deployment. I would like to migrate single instances, not the whole bunch at once."
"Except for the Lucene the index - we had a couple of issues in the Process Portal where the Lucene index went out of sync, and we had to work at least 15 - 20 hours to have it back in sync with the database."
"It's a bit technical, related to the instance of migrations. It's a tough thing to handle, in every new release, in every upgrade, that we have to do things in the applications or in the product. I think IBM is working on it but I know there are a lot of requests coming in from different organizations on this."
"System Center hasn't updated to keep up with the industry. It needs improvements in the user interface, ease of use, and overall product functionality, particularly the cloud-monitoring features. It needs more capabilities to monitor AWS and Azure infrastructure."
"The solution’s pricing could be improved."
"The solution's dashboard needs improvement."
"Something super important that we need is this integration via Intune Configuration Manager."
"We have some bugs but it's stable. It doesn't break every day. It works. Like other applications, it has a lot of bugs but they're manageable."
"Implementation and integration in the case of multi-tenant environments needs improvement."
"Most of the documentation is online, however, there are some gaps there. The product documentation still refers back to the 2012 Server. We're pretty much in 2022. There's a ten-year gap there."
"The platform's performance could be improved. Additionally, its UI needs to be well-upgraded and work faster."
