Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I think that it could be interesting to expand the eCommerce capabilities to the B2C sector.""It allows us to arrange and develop new ideas, then incorporate them into the portal. We can create a one stop information center, so people can access the information from one window.""The look and feel and the user interface are great.""Manageability is very good and probably the most valuable part of a tool of this type. There is a little more of a learning curve than you have with a simple tool, but a business user can learn to manage the system as an administrator very easily.""The integration capabilities of the product are super easy to use.""The web/mobile/portal integration was one of the features that we found most valuable, primarily because it reduced our development time.""The solution is easy to install.""We chose Liferay because it is open-source and that we can make any number of users apply, register into the system and use the system, as opposed to other solutions where the cost is based on user licenses. This is one of the most attractive features."

"The product is user-friendly.""The most valuable feature for me was the different channels.""Its intuitive design makes it easy to use and understand, hence we do not have a need to spend much on educating our teams.""The solution has a great user interface and functionalities. It has good features that we can use. We can integrate any third-party application with Slack so that it provides you with insights and updates in real-time on Slack itself.""The feature that I have found most valuable is communication between team members.""Slack helps us keep the conversation focused and avoid multiple threads that create more confusion. I would say that has been the biggest advantage for us.""Overall, it is a good idea as it works better than most solutions out there.""In terms of setup, approaching its menu is simple."

Cons
"Social area and capabilities need improvement.""The documentation provided needs to be more detailed. It's sometimes hard to develop things because the documentation is so sparse.""It could be improved in terms of adding filters to some of the rules. Therefore, you can retain how long a document would need to stay in an archive.""The plugins should be more affordable.""The integration and configuration need to be simplified.""It could have better built-in integration with a wider variety of extensions out-of-the-box."

More Liferay Digital Experience Platform Cons →

"The video calling experience on Slack needs improvement.""For me, the only thing I can say is that every time somebody sent me an attachment, the attachment was listed somewhere, and then I had to open the conversation and go to the individual to open it. So there is no handy repository or an easy way to quickly look at attachments. For me, that was a bit difficult.""The tool is a bit slow.""Slack feels clustered and hence it should improve its design and UI.""The solution needs to improve its scalability.""Notifications are not as good as they could be (especially for mobile).""The tool has stability issues that need to be improved. We are not native English speakers and Slack needs to integrate grammar checks.""I would like to be able to do live streaming on Slack. Slack allows Slack huddle where you can do a group call, but it is not very well-designed. I'm not sure if it is going very well, but live streaming is one thing that I would definitely love to see. When you use Zoom, I like how you can run webinars. If we could do that through Slack, it would become an all-integrated platform. I would also like to be able to schedule meetings using Slack, similar to Zoom."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Their pricing model should be modified to include per user options instead of just servers/cores, etc."
  • "It is a bit expensive."
  • "It's an open-source structure. Other costs are for professional services to integrate Liferay to other existing systems."
  • "Licensing costs can be very expensive."
  • "The product is neither cheap nor expensive. What Liferay Digital Experience Platform offers at its current price can be considered something that is worth the money."
  • More Liferay Digital Experience Platform Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We use the free version that does not have a license."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "It is less expensive than one of its competitors."
  • "It is an expensive tool. We pay 15 to 20 USD monthly per user."
  • "Slack is definitely worth the money."
  • "The pricing can range up to about twenty bucks a user. You can spend a lot of money, especially if you're talking about thousands of users. Generally speaking, Slack is less expensive than Teams. Slack doesn't include all the bells and whistles that Teams does. So you can go from a $6 license in Microsoft 365 to a $50 license per user per month, and there's a lot more you can do in the $50 license."
  • "I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
  • "The solution is cheap in my country."
