Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

"We have a large network spanning over 1000 kilometers. NetXMS provides visibility and sends alerts. Typically, most monitoring systems monitor every 60 seconds, but NetXMS allows us to adjust this. For critical links, we can set it to check every second. For our high-priority financial customers, we monitor every second. So, every three seconds, we receive another email and a Telegram alert. This helps us meet our SLAs (Service Level Agreements) with our high-priority customers."

"Nice product with an easy interface to use and a large variety of sensors.""PRTG gives us true visibility of the downtime of particular circuit functions. So if a circuit is up but not routing traffic, I will know with this tool. I can write a customized script for a sensor to detect specific things.""It is great for service level agreements and can comply fully with internet monitoring or any interface.""One of the valuable features is the diversity of metrics available to us to monitor. It's all there, it's all in the box. It's all made very easy, by virtue of it being pre-configured.""We use the remote probes a lot for our branch offices. Instead of deploying the full instance of PRTG, we'll put a remote probe out there. This simplifies the whole deployment for us.""There is a simplicity to setting up the extra sensors. It's really easy for us to build infrastructure and start monitoring very quickly.""The feature I like is that it can easily do a lot of mapping.""The most valuable feature of this solution is being able to see things graphically."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"Based on my experience, there should be options for using the latest communication methods, like social media integration. Telegram is already integrated, but SMS and other alert options would be beneficial. So, integrating social media notifications into NetXMS would be a good thing."

More NetXMS Cons →

"The icons on PRTG's network diagram are hard to find. For example, finding the icons for firewalls and servers is difficult, so we're struggling to create the network topology.""Performance-wise, PRTG Network Monitor still needs improvement because a large number of SNMPv3 queries reduces tool performance.""Integration into service management ticketing systems could be better. They should simplify the integration into big service management platforms like ServiceNow, Remedy, and Cherwell. They're really into monitoring, but they don't do any self-resolution. It would be better if the company moved more into the AIOps space so that you could actually kick off some remedies. I know that you can execute some commands from the tool, but you need to develop those all yourself. It would be really handy if they had some auto-remedy scripts that they could develop on top.""We've had some issues previously with the performance of the sensors. We tend to deploy quite a bit of WMI, which is quite processor-intensive, and we've found that that impacts the sensors quite a bit.""The only sort of limitation is the actual probes. So, if you don't have enough probes on there, you can over flip them and cause the WMI sensors and SNMP sensors to sort of overload. Sometimes, they might timeout for a minute, but they do come back.""The scalability of this solution could improve as well as the automated provisioning of the infrastructure.""The product could be improved by being cross-platform friendly.""PRTG Network Monitor can improve by having better integration with devices."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
