Pros
"We use this solution as an integrated backup solution and it is integrated from the backup provider to the Nutanix solution.""Nutanix has its own backup system known as HYCU, as well as its own virtual server.""We find the ease of use valuable.""I like the autofill-over feature and the simplicity of the solution.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...I rate the technical support a nine out of ten.""Nutanix can converge legacy-style rack mount servers, so it is highly scalable."

"The Dedup and file storage is great.""The tool's most valuable feature is backups.""I think this is the best backup solution that we have. It is very good for the infrastructure.""The main thing I like about NetBackup is CloudPoint. You can take a snapshot of the endpoint and back it up with CloudPoint. The data backups are the most important.""We were evaluating other products and getting confused between Commvault and Veritas NetBackup. The one reason that we started with Veritas NetBackup is the pricing of the license. There's no other reason from a technical perspective or even operation or capability of the two software. The main reason we chose Veritas NetBackup was that in our use case it is more cost-effective.""Logs are very easy to read, parse, and use for diagnostics.""The most valuable feature is that it is basically a replica of our SAND data. We archive the SAND data for recovery, if there is an issue on the fence.""The product is stable and reliable."

Cons
"It could be cheaper.""This solution could be improved with regards to the hosts that integrate with the platform itself. Each of the hosts integrated with the storage and networking only provide one instance of a backup.""The solution's setup process should be simplified.""Nutanix is not secure enough, and it needs to be more resilient.""I would like to see the multi-cloud improve.""The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."

"The virtual environment, cloud integration, copy data management features need improvement.""Main area that could be improved is the pricing, to make it more competitive""The pricing could be improved, and the interface could be more intuitive.""The product could improve the user-friendliness and comfort of its environment, especially for those unfamiliar with it.""The backup operation interface is not as mature as those of Veritas's competitors and has room for improvement.""Some of the hardware is out of support.""The solution is not that stable because it has to be monitored and administered every day. The stability could be improved.""I would advise not to use this tool. I think between the licensing issues and the older solution mentality it is not a great solution."

    Reviews from Real Users

Mahdi B., Solution Architect and IT Consultant at Merdasco - Rayan Merdas Data Processing, says, “Veritas integrates well with the cloud, all databases, all operating systems, all hardware, and all software. Veritas also has solid malware and ransomware protection features. From time to time, we face a new kind of attack, and Veritas has always proven to be the best protection solution for some of my customers. Our customers who have faced ransomware attacks were able to recover their data in less than one day without any stress. Veritas is ransomware resilient and because of its implementation, it is not dependent on the operating system to work. Most of the functions of the Veritas software are isolated from the operating system and it's not dependent on the operating systems involved. This is very important. When some of our operating systems are infected by a virus, Veritas still works perfectly and protects our data. This feature is very well implemented in Veritas NetBackup.”

A PeerSpot user who is a General Manager at a comms service provider relates, “Veritas enterprise has many agents who perform the backup, whether it is a consistent backup or recorded backup. The solution has everything from the snapshot to the multiple database agents.”

Mir-Ali, Infrastructure Manager - Oracle SCM at a financial services firm, shares, “It covers all kinds of different architectures. Plus, it's very user-friendly and it is very reliable. Reliability is the most important thing because once the backup is done, if it is successful, then we're sure that it was successful and we will be able to restore it.”
