We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the flexibility and ease of configuration in terms of testing and formula creation.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most valuable features are around consolidations, eliminations, conversions.""Financial consolidation and reporting tool with good built-in features such as currency exchange and elimination.""You can bring in data from any source and from multiple sources, and you can consolidate that data in HFM.""It is a very user-friendly software.""The tool is stable."

"The roll-up potential of the product is very good, meaning we have detailed information and we want it to be summarized, based on geography, based on different product lines, or based on different charts of accounts in the general ledger. It rolls up the information in a very concise way. This makes it easy to understand the overall performance, for it's forecasting aspects, or quarterly reporting, year to year, or month to month reporting.""The most valuable features are those associated with modules and SP, IT in this space, planning, HFM, and PME.""Functionality-wise, it is what they say it is. It is the best in class, but it all ties back to your users. If your users are completely enamored with Excel spreadsheets, then breaking those habits is hard.""The implementation has been simplified now that it's deployed in the cloud. Also, Hyperion is tightly integrated with Oracle products because Oracle owns it now.""This solution provides a more structured methodology for doing analysis than a tool like Excel. It creates a central database that keeps all information in one place.""Smart View is a really useful tool because we can have a good API with HFM.""We can integrate with any system and pull data from SAP or SQL Server. We can also design our own role files to establish how we pull the file data and store it in our database.""Oracle Hyperion has helped make things work faster in our company."

Cons
"The intercompany reporting function in this tool needs improvement, particularly being able to run reports in batches, rather than one at a time.""In terms of improvement, one challenge with Oracle HFM is the need for technical knowledge in writing SQL syntax for custom extensions.""The solution has integration challenges. We need a simple tool that is fool-proof for the data that is submitted not only for consolidation purposes but also for performance management and reporting purposes.""It's a difficult process to try to edit, configure, or change the business rules that exist and work within HFM.""The complexity is okay. I don't see it as super complex. The solution could have more functionality to make it a little bit more flexible.""If there could be data integration between HFM and the accounting software that would be ideal.""Integration is an area where it lacks and can be improved."

More Oracle HFM Cons →

"The initial setup of Oracle Hyperion is very difficult.""I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget.""All the planning systems out there are great. It doesn't matter which company you use. They're all great. I've seen demonstrations on a number of them, but it all boils down to the culture within the organization itself to use that functionality, understand it, and help drive it. I've had Oracle salespeople do demonstrations, and it looked really good. We get it on board, and everybody still sticks to their Excel spreadsheets because companies are a lot more complex than what you could deliver on the planning system. So, there should be more education on the capabilities, and there should be more understanding of organizations in terms of the way they access the data in order to plan.""Oracle Hyperion's scalability could be improved.""The level of complexity of the implementation is always a challenge.""The analytics could be improved.""I found the initial setup to be complex.""There's something known as a data block that Hyperion generates for each and every transaction. Sometimes it does not generate and we need to identify those issues and fix them manually."
