We performed a comparison between Anaplan and Oracle Hyperion based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Business Performance Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Anaplan's most valuable features are that it's a no-coding platform, everything can be scaled to your other functions, and it's easy to learn and use (especially because Anaplan provides excellent interactive training)."
"I believe Anaplan is a new cloud tool, and from time to time, there's a lot of improvement that the Anaplan company deploys with the system. So, with that improvement, we need to really adapt and know the new system trends."
"It's real-time connected planning, so the calculations are pretty much seamless as far as your model is connected."
"The best thing is that it's very intuitive and user-friendly. You don't need coding skills to manipulate the platform."
"You don't need to have a programming language to use Anaplan."
"Anaplan's strongest feature is that its GUI is very modern and user-friendly."
"The features that I have found most valuable are that it is web-based and easy to use."
"It's highly flexible. If you've got a complex environment with complex calculations, you can build that out. So that's a really good positive."
"The latest cloud version is more efficient for financial implementations."
"Scalability isn't a problem for Hyperion."
"It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete."
"One can see that it's a mature product because it addresses all the requirements that you must need for financial consolidation and for budgeting and planning. It's really easy to use."
"The most valuable features are those associated with modules and SP, IT in this space, planning, HFM, and PME."
"Smart View is a really useful tool because we can have a good API with HFM."
"Hyperion is helpful for all our budget processes."
"It is easy to use. It is very intuitive. Even though there is a lot of functionality that comes out of the box, you can customize the solutions to meet your needs. You have the ability to have business rules that produce all kinds of calculations. We're international, and we do all our FX conversions through that."
"One area of improvement is conditional formatting. It's not very practical, and you need to specify additional formatting."
"There are so many business rules to set up in the system that as a business user it's hard to gauge what they're doing and it's possible to get lost."
"Anaplan should come up with flexible options to connect to a data warehouse rather than an Anaplan hub."
"It would be nice if the solution offered better extensions."
"Anaplan's workflow component is probably the biggest area for improvement. I'd also like to see Anaplan add an ad hoc reporting tool that allows users to query things. It's going to factor into how you design your data set and your models, but I'd like the ability to create ad hoc queries against the data that's in there."
"The tool needs to work on its integration with MS Excel and MS Word. The tool does not allow data analysis in spreadsheets which is possible on other platforms. I want the solution to be more collaborative to facilitate decision-making in organizations."
"There are workspace issues, like the limitation on model sizes."
"Automation needs to be built into this solution."
"The solution is about to cease to exist, so it doesn't really matter if they add anything to it. It's at end-of-life."
"Configuration is a little complex, it's not very easy. The solution is integrated with Essbase and there are not many users of the Essbase database. If they can provide different modules for each subject area, like supply chain, for inventory forecasting or for order management forecasting, it would make each subject area easier to manage."
"The reporting feature in Oracle Hyperion isn't the best. It needs improvement."
"The initial setup of Oracle Hyperion is very difficult."
"The Oracle technical support in our area is terrible."
"There's something known as a data block that Hyperion generates for each and every transaction. Sometimes it does not generate and we need to identify those issues and fix them manually."
"We are still having some issues with the ASO Cube. It can take a long time to clear the data in the ASO Cube compared to BSO data-clearing operations. We don't have a specific calculation in the ASO, and we only have these aggregate options on the ASO side. If we need calculations, we have to calculate them in the BSO and pass the data to the ASO Cube for the reporting. That's one of the drawbacks. Oracle could also improve on the data logging side as well."
"I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget."
