Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

"The threshold alerting is the most valuable feature.""This is a good, stable network monitoring solution for devices.""The most valuable feature of WhatsUp Gold is NetFlow and the virtualized maps.""The installation and configuration process are easy.""NetFlow monitoring, real-time monitoring, and surveys have been the most valuable features for our business.""We no longer have to manually search for problems because we are alerted when something in the network goes down.""The product is reasonably priced.""The most valuable feature is the monitoring of resources."

More WhatsUp Gold Pros →

"Zabbix is very easy to implement.""There is a problems page that shows us every warning or problem that occurs on our VMs globally. The map screen is also really useful because this is something that was missing. I don't know every other tool in the market. So, I don't know if this is a good point of only Zabbix, or other tools are also doing it, but from my point of view, this is the most useful page that I use, along with the problems page that efficiently lists the problem, recovery time, ending hours, starting hours, and so on.""The initial setup was very quick. The first time it was long because I didn't know it yet. I was only using Windows. The first time was very difficult because of the operating system.""It not only provides the preconfigured item monitoring feature, but it is also easy to configure custom items.""We like the user-interface for this solution, which makes it an easy to use tool.""It's a very reliable platform and we've never had any issues regarding the scalability or the stability of Zabbix.""It can send messages to our ticketing system.""The most valuable feature is the alert and alarm monitoring."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"I would like to see better integration with switches so that you can see what is connected to each port, what the traffic is, and have a network map automatically generated.""Regional product team support is not very good.""I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy.""WhatsUp Gold should work on real-time monitoring and configuration management. If they succeed in doing this, the solution will cover all the network troubleshooting aspects and will be a benefit.""Importing the maps and being able to customize them could be easier.""Adding on services increases the cost and on the version we have there is no option for ATM monitoring.""The licensing model could be improved. Right now, the levels are too far apart. This causes the solution to be more expensive than it needs to be.""Users want SMS available via Whatsapp Gold. They don't want to go through third party SMS servers. The solution should work to make this possible."

More WhatsUp Gold Cons →

"The event correlation could be better.""Its UI should be improved. They did some improvements in version 5, but it could benefit from some more work. Its integrations should also be improved. They've been active for one year, and they seem to have noticed that. It has new integrations, but it could benefit from more integrations. As far as I know, there is no model to push statistics, metrics, or events towards Zabbix. This type of API isn't yet there, whereas some other tools provide an API for this.""As far as improvements, sometimes I get a bit frustrated when I move from a previous version to a new one because some configuration has changed—I need to investigate the documentation to deal with some configuration. But it doesn't take much time, so it's okay.""Correlation of events would be a wonderful addition.""The user interface could be better.""We would like to monitor other touchpoints such as ATM machines. It would be great if it can provide monitoring of ATM machines. Compatibility with other products would also be great.""My company wanted to do an exercise command to access IT from Cameroon. They wanted to access an FSS to a second host with second equipment that was on another coast but it is not possible on Zabbix to do it. They want to directly access from the front-end of Zabbix to access a prompt in Zabbix to an access terminal. In the front-end, there is no way to do that. That would be an important improvement.""The user interface could be a bit better. They could update it a bit."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
