Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Reporting is one of the key elements that are valuable for C-suite executives. In terms of monitoring, the solution provides comprehensive details into ongoing processes, flagging issues and warnings as necessary.""AWS Backup's most valuable feature is that you can configure it remotely to create backups.""It works well as a backup and as a service.""It's very easy to configure. Since it's a managed service, it's very straightforward to set up and use. And my customers get on with it very fast.""The advantage that AWS Backup has over competitors is that it's very simple.""The most valuable features of AWS Backup are point-in-time recovery and support resources.""What I like about AWS Backup is its simple approach to a complex problem.""The most valuable feature is its ease of use."

"No longer does it take several hours to backup a VM or troubleshoot a backup issue.""The most valuable features of Cohesity DataProtect are SpanFS and the handling of hybrid workloads.""Cohesity DataProtect is a reliable solution for performing backups within a suitable timeframe, and its forever incremental model is particularly effective for the customer's needs. Additionally, the solution handles instant recovery and file-level recovery from a VMware image backup seamlessly.""Instead of four different solutions for protecting VMs, physical servers, SQL, and NAS, we now have one solution with Cohesity that is lightning fast and has amazing features.""Its most valuable feature is its ransomware protection, so it has immutable backups.""The solution's SQL cloning is great, and its Instant Mount restoration of virtual machines is brilliant.""We are happy with the support provided by Cohesity for the issues we've come across.""We are looking forward to the next release, so we can take advantage of the AHV backup for our Nutanix environment."

Cons
"The AWS Backup backend reporting is a major area that needs improvement. We would be very excited if we can see some reporting, such as trends. We do understand that there are reports available for S3 Bucket, in which the AWS backend stores the data. However, if we can receive holistic reporting, then it would be very helpful for us.""If AWS could also add some hybrid cloud features to AWS Backup, that would be a significant improvement. For example, currently, AWS Backup only backs up to the S3 and Amazon Cloud, and you can only restore from the Amazon Cloud only. However, some people have hybrid environments. They have some workloads on-premises and some workloads in the cloud.""Only the price could be improved.""For additional functionalities, it should be more intelligent, like more AI-capabilities.""They should work on their visual capabilities.""The notifications on the backup and on the mobile app could be more useful. If they could arrange notes or notifications properly and offer services for managing it in our region, it would be helpful for us.""To create a plan and for all the configuration, one has to do multiple steps, which could be organized in a much simpler way, making the user experience better.""Its cost could be better than a few of its competitors."

More AWS Backup Cons →

"Better documentation is needed because the lack of information has necessitated having our team depend more heavily on Cohesity support.""Reporting is quite limited and not customizable.""The support team could do a better job. Sometimes finding the correct person is cumbersome and time consuming.""Since it is an evolving product, there are lot of frequent releases which require upgrades to be done every other weekend.""The one area where we would like to see additional improvements is with reporting. There are very granular reports from each grid. There are also some built-in reports within Helios (SAS Management Console) that offers basic reporting. However, for complex, large-enterprise environments, a more robust reporting engine that supports detailed audit reporting and enhanced ad hoc reports would be welcome.""They could always keep up with continuous interface refinements.""A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often.""The error handling could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We don't use a lot of space, only approximately 900 GB, so the price is reasonable. For standing, it's okay. We normally do a payment to SSML, and they are the ones who pay over there. It is around $100 monthly."
  • "There is a lot of flexibility with the services and pricing. The price is reasonable when compared to other products. This is very good for us."
  • "There are no licensing costs for AWS Backup. You pay only for the amount of backup storage you use and then the data transferred between regions. Overall AWS Backup is priced reasonably."
  • "Our customers pay a monthly AWS fee that includes the AWS Backup service."
  • "The solution's price is reasonable."
  • "Price-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. One only has to pay for the storage cost of AWS solutions, which is the standard cost provided by AWS."
  • "Its price is much cheaper than some vendors but more expensive than others."
  • "The pricing is decent."

  • "Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
  • "If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces."
  • "The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day."
  • "Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
  • "We purchased support from Cohesity to ensure that should we face an issue, we don't have to deal with different service providers."
  • "With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
