"The solution is good for monitoring device behavior.""The most valuable feature of Azure Network Watcher is using the gateways with the connections. The monitoring is useful for the logs and application insights into the data. The traffic filtering issues when it comes to deploying those applications are helpful.""I like the visibility.""The solution is stable.""It provides good visibility.""The most valuable feature of Azure Network Watcher is the cloud-native application firewall. It is helpful for securing databases.""The most valuable features I have found are typology, visualization, and capture.""What I like most about Azure Network Watcher is that it's focused more on the architecture. I also like that it has a packet capture feature that tells you how the packet travels and whether it's exiting Azure, etc."

"The up-to-date graphs and the history are very good.""The most valuable feature of PRTG Network Monitor is the dashboards. We can check to see the resources and the uptime.""Its proactiveness is its most valuable feature. We already know when we come in, in the morning, if a server or site is down, as opposed to someone telling us.""The most valuable feature of this solution is being able to see things graphically.""There is a simplicity to setting up the extra sensors. It's really easy for us to build infrastructure and start monitoring very quickly.""Network Discovery is a feature that our customers like a lot.""It allows us to directly add individual VMs independently.""The initial setup is pretty easy."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

"Azure is good, however, the Fortinet GUI is more intuitive and I like it more than anything else.""Azure Network Watcher could improve by having other built-in applications. For example, an application to log activities for in and outbound traffic.""The initial setup and initial learning curve could be improved to be easier.""The initial setup and deployment could be improved to be simplified.""The solution could improve by limiting the need to clarify the logs. When the clarification is minimized, it is better for everyone involved.""Lacks sufficient security features.""I would like to see in the future if we can troubleshoot as a firewall because it is equipment as a network player and some diagnostics.""Azure Network Watcher needs to have better documentation and it needs to capture information accurately."

More Azure Network Watcher Cons →

"Users need to buy the more expensive licenses if they expect to be able to scale.""I would like to see Office 365 monitoring. Essentially, it doesn't do it. I assumed not at all, but apparently it does it slightly. However, due to issues with APIs, they currently don't provide full monitoring for O365.""It probably has this already, but if it had a mobile app that would be helpful. For example, on a day like today when I'm out, if I could just fire it up and see green, green, green, green, green or red, that would be good.""The technical support could respond a little bit quicker.""PRTG would be improved if it required less memory to run.""The licensing policy needs more flexibility.""The remote probes seem to be a little bit buggy at times. They just stop working or they say they can't communicate. What we tend to do to is install the remote app onto the servers that we use. That seems to clear it up.""Sometimes, our PRTG Network Monitor system crashes and a lot of sensors go down."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
