We performed a comparison between Oracle Essbase and SAP Analytics Cloud based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Oracle, Quest Software, SolarWinds and others in Database Development and Management."Unlike relational, where you're linking together multiple tables, with Essbase, you basically define what the dimensions are beforehand, and you define the hierarchy, and then load the data. This allows you to do a pretty sophisticated analysis so that you can drill into it and slice and dice the data."
"It is highly efficient and easily scalable, particularly for handling large databases."
"It helps us fetch specific data sets per users' requirements."
"The solution is scalable."
"I have found the most valuable aspect is the user-friendly environment and current features."
"Essbase is extremely stable and low-maintenance."
"It is very fast compared to other normal databases, like SQL and MySQL."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"What my customers like best about SAP Analytics Cloud is the dashboard because it's pretty good."
"Technical support is helpful."
"The most useful feature of SAP Analytics Cloud is planning because it helps users with making predictions and forecasts. Clients can forecast, make data allocations, and other actions. The solution is useful for planning."
"SAP Analytics Cloud allows you to quickly perform various tasks in terms of virtualization. CyberArk itself requires some enhancements to better connect with other technologies. While it's easy to connect with SAP, using analytics tools may sometimes necessitate sourcing information from different platforms. You might need data from SAP or other technologies/platforms to access specific information not available within SAP. SAP is effective for managing storage and enhancing virtualization capabilities."
"In the data warehouse, you're free to make changes. You can make everything text, meaning it's always a string. Even numbers appear as text, giving you the flexibility to work with all columns."
"The features that I have found most valuable with SAP ERP products are their good user interface, stability, functionality, and good interface options."
"The tool's most valuable features are the BI and planning functionalities. I value being able to integrate smart planning with BI for analysis. The solution is user-friendly."
"In the most recent release, the schedule publication was officially updated and it's been added on MS Office 365. I like how we had an EPM for B to C perspective; it's a great enhancement. Also, I believe the B to B connectivity has been improved. Android support for mobile is really good also. Power BI has always had android support in place, so manual support for SAP Analytics Cloud is also a very good feature."
"The reporting tool of Essbase needs improvement."
"It's an expensive product to use."
"The consolidation engine, which is HFM or FCCS, needs some room for improvement."
"The initial setup is pretty complex."
"I would like to see an integration with application performance management and a version control management tool."
"There is room for improvement in terms of cost-effectiveness."
"Essbase has a programming language, and it has a couple of functions to do forecasting, however, their feature set for that is not that good."
"The ability to drive external reporting out for development could be improved."
"The price, integration, and modeling capabilities could be better. I have to use an integration engine to integrate our products and databases. SAP Analytics Cloud is made specifically for KPIs and business intelligence. The modeling capabilities are kind of poor. You always have to model the data and then present it visually in SAP Analytics Cloud. In the next release, I would like to have a lite version for planning to create scenarios quickly. For me personally, planning is the most complicated feature of SAP Analytics Cloud."
"I would like to see improved support for third-party systems, lower cost of acquisition, and better graphics and interface design."
"Improvements are coming quarterly whereas previously it was on a monthly basis."
"Some of the standard visualizations, such as a speedometer or a goal chart, are not there and should be added."
"I would like to see reporting to the Analytics cloud directly."
"It seems like there's a problem with the tool's licenses. If there are a lot of users, like 200, who only use the solution once a year, paying for a full-year license for each user is expensive. There's no option for users who only use the solution occasionally."
"One potential improvement is how we can transpose data. With SAP, if you have data from one system with a declared data type and a different system with another data type, the transfer is tricky."
"Some algorithms are complex and can't be processed by just tagging the data and expecting results."
