We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR.""he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features.""We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats.""Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance.""The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."

"The most valuable feature is that I don't feel that it is there. It works in the background and doesn't interfere with my daily work. All the scans are done in the background. This is the biggest advantage of this product. It works because I have never been infected since I have been using this solution. Its interface is also very good.""It's customizable, we're able to tune it to work with our products.""We use the Symantec Global Intelligence Network (GIN), and it's an excellent feature as Symantec is a leader in security solutions. The product has all the security features we require as an organization, including intelligent features such as notification alerts and predicting future attacks. The threat intelligence and detection are excellent, and the solution provides great visuals and logs so that we can analyze any attacks on our servers. GIN is a powerful tool in terms of detection capability across endpoints, email, and web traffic, as it can scan them with its advanced threat intelligence. The product can detect threats, report them to us, and quarantine them.""The technical support is very good. They have an Indian support team, so there are no delays in receiving support.""The best thing about Symantec is its ability to control our endpoints from a single point. You can manage the antivirus definitions, upgrades, remote scanning, etc., from one console.""The solution is completely scalable.""One of the features is the ability to frequently get virus signature updates.""The solution is easy to manage."

"The solution is useful for endpoint protection.""The endpoint protection features are valuable.""The best feature is the firewall that lets us allow or block ports. That's a great tool because we can limit specific types of traffic on user devices and apply granular security controls to IPs and ports.""We use the solution for detection.""Managing the dashboard is straightforward and efficient. I appreciate the convenience of accessing all alerts in one place and find configuring policies to be a simple process. Creating and deploying policies to agents is easily accomplished, and the communication between agents and servers is effectively implemented. These aspects are what I find favorable about Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise.""The overall solution is good, particularly the detection engine. It performs well in identifying malware and conducting regular network scans. The product is easy to use.""Symantec is a little bit better at remediating or preventing things in general.""The solution works well overall."

Cons
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location.""We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team.""The solution is not stable.""I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components.""The support needs improvement.""The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices.""Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation.""I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"The support needs to be better. When we upgrade, we can run into issues, and it's hard to get the help we require.""The solution is very difficult to uninstall. There isn't really a way to uninstall the product at all, which is quite a headache.""They should work on making the virus definition file lighter.""Overall, the price could be reduced.""Sometimes tech support is a bit slow to find a solution.""Symantec isn't good in terms of updating customers about updates. You'd normally have to search it out. Sometimes, the update process for the administration and management console can be a bit intimidating, and it can be quite inconvenient to get the updates. That's because when you have to do the update, you have to update the management console, and then you need to update the clients. Their application that's installed on desktops and servers needs to go hand in hand with the management console. Sometimes, it's a bit unwieldy to see that process through.""Automation of tasks should be improved on SEPM. It is currently manual, and we should be able to automate installation and deployment from the client side.""Using the management console is a bit complex. There are many features that we cannot use and we could use some help. We need some assistance to make them work better. They need to add features to make it simpler."

More Symantec Endpoint Security Cons →

"We are currently looking at CrowdStrike as a replacement option because on-prem support is going away under Symantec.""The product's security features could be improved - it is still possible for hackers to penetrate your servers even when using it.""I believe an improvement could be made in Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise by incorporating a URL blocking feature within the same product. Currently, it requires a separate subscription and agent installation, which I think could be more streamlined for unified management from a single agent.""In the past, I experienced companies that protected themselves with Symantec, suffering some attacks.""There could be a pop-up notification at the users' end whenever the software expires.""It could be more responsive and have fewer delays.""When we asked the support team to relicense the original piece, the team ghosted us.""In the future, Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise should improve the firewall and documentation."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

Symantec Endpoint Security is a robust and reliable product that provides complete protection against viruses, malware, Trojans, and malicious files. It offers application and device control, ease of use in deploying and updating, a central control console, stability, scalability, auto-discovery capabilities, patch management, endpoint detection and response capabilities, intrusion detection module.

It has helped organizations reduce downtime, increase productivity, and improve security posture. Symantec Endpoint Security is easy to use, has a flexible administration, and offers more value than expected.
