Easy to deploy and doesn't require a lot of resources and capable of image-level backups, making disaster recovery easier
It's very easy to administer so the IT team doesn't need a dedicated backup administrator. An IT admin can manage the backups. It's easy to deploy and doesn't require a lot of resources on the client machine.  So the customer doesn't need to purchase high-performance servers or enterprise-level…

Great support, good reliability, and can expand as needed
We would implement the solution for clients.  The solution is stable.  It is scalable.  Technical support has been great. They could improve the interface a bit. It's not as good as it could be.  I've been using the solution for six to seven years.  The product is quite stable and reliable.…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The beauty of the solution is that you can rely on it. It offers a quick recovery time when it's backing up items. The way it recovers data is excellent."
"It is a scalable product."
"Once the solution is integrated with the Exchange, you just click Exchange to back up that file."
"The backup solution comes in different versions to support different platforms."
"It gives us the ability to locate and restore critical files which users may have intentionally or unknowing deleted a while ago."
"The product's most valuable feature is scalability."
"It is one of the most stable backup solutions."
"Veritas Backup Exec is fully compatible with different tape libraries."
"The policy-based backup feature is very helpful."
"It has been our go-to product for backup."
"The most valuable feature of the Veritas NetBackup Appliance is the virtual machine backups."
"If you use the NetBackup Appliance you do not need to have separate media servers and hardware. You can configure the same storage as a media server and master server as well as a storage port. This helps to reduce the hardware costs of the media server."
"The solution is very scalable."
"The reporting is very good compared to other tools."
"Installing this solution is very simple and takes perhaps five or ten minutes."
"The solution has a very easy-to-navigate user interface."

Cons

"The pricing of the solution is a bit high."
"Compared to other vendors, there are features that you will find not included in Veritas."
"Veritas Backup Exec could improve the analytics. If there were some more detail in our scan reports it would be beneficial."
"I would like to see this solution improve on faster restoration. Currently, it takes a long time to restore my data."
"This solution does not support image-level backup of a physical server."
"The console of Veritas Backup Exec is complex when compared to other software."
"It is currently missing the dynamic backup feature for virtual machines, which is available in NetWorker. I can create politics in NetWorker to add virtual machines with specific tags, but I cannot do this in Backup Exec, which is a minus point for me. Currently, a user has to send a request to the Backup administrator to add a machine to the backup, but I should be able to create rules to automatically add a new machine to the backup. This kind of functionality is very important in current times, especially when we are using cloud solutions. I should be able to create more than one stream in a policy and specify how many streams I want to run in parallel in one policy. Currently, I have to manually create more policies to backup more than one virtual machine at the same time. Their support can also be improved in terms of response time."
"Veritas Backup Exec's support services could be faster."
"It could be better integrated with other platforms."
"They could improve the interface a bit."
"The configuration can sometimes be tricky during implementation."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance could improve by having a site recovery feature."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance can improve by having a more direct connection to the cloud. It should have the technology to be able to directly communicate with the cloud."
"The reporting feature can be improved."
"The response from the support team has not always been quick, so sometimes there is a risk."
"Sometimes, the user interface doesn't work smoothly."
