We performed a comparison between BigPanda and Nagios Core based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two IT Infrastructure Monitoring solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We have also made extensive use of the outbound integrations to ticketing systems (JIRA) and collaboration tools (Slack). The main driver for us has been getting all alerting into a single UI and enabling us to streamline our incident management process."
"The main thing that we like about BigPanda is the user interface."
"The most valuable features of BigPanda are the API integration was good. It enables us to do faster onboarding."
"BigPanda integrates well with other solutions, such as WatchGuard,"
"The best of a bad lot was the error message deduping."
"One of the most valuable features of BigPanda is its user-friendly interface."
"Easy integration - We've had challenges in the past integrating all of our various monitoring sources and tools into one central system. BigPanda, with the integrations that it already has, as well as offering webhook/REST API, has made it very easy for us to plug everything in."
"The most useful feature has been the AI/ML. The way BigPanda uses the AI/ML is good compared to other SRE tools."
"Nagios monitors our servers, so we know if anything goes wrong and can solve the problem before it happens."
"The solution is quite efficient."
"The most valuable features are the reports and the way it generates the report in a graphical manner."
"What I like about Nagios Core is that it helps me ensure everything is running smoothly by checking the status of hosts and services."
"It has made the life of the network operations staff more proactive in managing the resources of the infrastructure. It prevents disasters long before they can take place."
"The notifications are definitely one of the most valuable features of Nagios Core. We know what to look for and what to expect when things are down."
"The most valuable feature depends on the project. It's great if you need to check to ensure a service is running 24/7. I can use the full solution for free, and it's flexible. If I need to add a dashboard, I can integrate it with Nagios. Cloud synchronization is wonderful."
"We mostly use Nagios Core to integrate with Python and Bash Script."
"BigPanda attempts a little of everything and fails at most."
"BigPanda could improve by syncing its threshold settings with Dynatrace to align with users' familiarity."
"Analytics is an area for improvement, being able to break down the actions that are being taken by users of BigPanda, as well as the auto-magical work that is being done by BigPanda."
"We had to use a partner for the deployment."
"BigPanda can improve the correlations. We didn't see any big value. It is still good at the same event deduplication, event processing, and ticket creation, but I was more looking at event analysis and event correlation. In that area, it is still no big difference between the other solutions on the market. All of them, are in the same immature stage."
"The observability can be enriched with regards to infrastructure and the application-integrated environment. The dashboard and reports could be improved."
"Lacks sufficient dashboard features."
"The usability needs to improve, because it is a pure code environment."
"The tool needs to improve the integrations."
"Nagios Core can improve the graphical interface, it would make things a little easier."
"The dashboard and monitoring features could be improved."
"We're using the free version, which limits us in terms of the things that we can do. If we had the paid version, a lot of our issues would probably go away. For example, we can't isolate instances that are being built or updated with the production ones. When they're being built, on Nagios, they're showing in red. It'd be nice to be able to partition those off until they're all green, and then we can bring them into the environment. This is probably because we've got the free version and not the paid version. If we went for the paid version, it would probably allow us to do exactly what we want to or remove the restrictions that we have, but if we are able to isolate instances in the free version, it would make life much easier."
"Would benefit from aggregations if a particular server goes down."
"The UI is a little outdated and graphics could be displayed in a better way."
"The core version is no match for the XI version."
"It would be nice if the company offered a sales or contract manager that was dedicated to our company so that we would have some sort of link to Nagios, and if we had issues or questions, we'd be able to contact them directly."
