We performed a comparison between Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks vs Trend Micro Apex One based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Users of both solutions were satisfied with deployments, features, and technical support. However, users seem to favor Cortex XDR due to its affordable price.
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out."
"The solution was relatively easy to deploy."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"Cortex XDR's most valuable feature is its intelligence-based dashboards."
"Cortex XDR can integrate the firewalls and determine the tendencies of the attacks. It's a new generation antivirus, with protection endpoints and detection response. It is very easy to use and everybody can operate the solution."
"It'll not slow down your system when compared to others."
"Cortex XDR is a very capable solution for protecting large networks and a lot of endpoints. It's very useful because the automation is very high, and if you combine it with the features on Palo Alto firewalls, it provides very strong protection."
"One thing that I like about Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, it is detecting all the suspicious or malicious binaries, and it has integration with Palo Alto Firewall."
"The initial setup isn't too bad."
"The solution allows us to make investigations. Other XDR solutions also provide similar capabilities but for investigation, Cortex XDR is better."
"The most valuable for us is the correlation feature."
"Apex One is flexible and offers a lot of visibility on the agent."
"Trend Micro Apex One is good at detecting zero-day threats. When the solution was in operation I did not notice any system performance problems. Upgrades of the solution were simple to do and there are plenty of features."
"I like One Endpoint Security. We can manage all the Trend Micro products from one console."
"Apex One includes a built-in fine-grained DLP solution."
"The cloud-based management portal was okay."
"Workload security now has a feature called Activity Monitor for each endpoint."
"It's a good solution, and they have something called Suite incorporating many, many engines like encryption, GLB, anti-virus."
"Stable threat protection software that's quick to install. The security it provides is okay."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"Cortex XDR is trickier to configure than other Palo Alto products. This is one area where we are not so satisfied."
"It is not a suitable solution if you are looking for a single product with multiple features such as DLP, encryption, rollback, etc."
"I would like to see some additional features related to email protection included."
"Previously, the endpoint would leave the environment, not being on our VPN, essentially unable to interact with the server to upload files. It was unable to retrieve new file verdicts. It was using a thing called "local analysis" to determine if something was a malicious file or not. There was no dynamic analysis."
"Being able to filter the events to see those that are related to the actual alert would save time spent by the engineer."
"It'll help if customization was easier."
"Data privacy is a matter of concern. You have to be careful with data privacy, it can be sensitive and Cortex can have most of your access."
"The solution needs better reports. I think they should let the customer go in and customize the reports."
"The solution could use signatureless detection."
"It should have a single agent as competitors are offering."
"The solution could be more proactive by using AI to assess the production landscape and compete with other products."
"Occasionally, the system may be a bit slow."
"The menus can be more user-friendly or easier. For example, if we want to enable access to the USB ports, it should be more user-friendly. It is not easy. We need to navigate through several menus to be able to give access."
"The solution could be improved by providing better training to the vendors."
"There is room for improvement in next-gen attacks protection."
"We do not have much control as we have to work with regional policies and regional support."
