We performed a comparison between ESET Endpoint Protection Platform and Sophos EPP Suite based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's scalability is quite good, and you can add licenses to the solution."
"The stability is very good."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"This solution has a traditional antivirus, I believe that signature-based detection is most valuable."
"I would say that this solution has the best support team in this kind of Endpoint protection product."
"It hasn't crashed a single time, so it is stable in that sense."
"Easy to use security solution, helps to secure connected devices against viruses in the digital world."
"I like the integration; it lets you see the product installed on a particular computer."
"The potential threat protection feature is the most valuable. In the event that one of my computers is not on the network and gets a virus, ESET Endpoint Security quickly detects the malware, and in most cases, it removes the virus. It also has the ability to remotely shut down the computer. I like the remote control part the most."
"I rate ESET Endpoint Security eight out of 10 for ease of setup. Setting up ESET can be straightforward or complicated depending on the customer's environment. The deployment time varies, but it's typically around five days. We have a team of four or five people involved in the deployment. Only one person is needed for maintenance. The only maintenance is adjusting the configuration of the dashboard."
"They do a program where you can renew for three years. It's very reasonable, as far as the cost per year, because you can renew for three years. They will also do multiple computers, so I actually protect all my family computers, as well as my work computers, all under one license. This means I only have to deal with re-upping my license once every three years. That's the big thing for me."
"We were concerned about the threat posed by malware. The product's effectiveness in addressing this threat and capturing it within the network has been quite helpful."
"It's easy to deploy."
"Sophos EPP Suite's most valuable feature is ease of use."
"It is one of the good solutions that provides a single well-rounded protection for endpoints and internet security."
"The web control and the application control are two good features."
"The most valuable features of Sophos EPP Suite are the detection capability, machine learning, ransomware protection, and live response."
"This product is quite stable and there are no problems with it."
"Sophos EPP Suite is a powerful antivirus."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."
"The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The solution is not user-friendly."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The use of SQL Server can be improved. At times, there is a bit of challenge while linking it with the Javascript. ESET Endpoint Security requires modern technology or modern equipment on site. You will find it difficult to use ESET Endpoint Security with dual-core machines. If they can add the cloud management feature to their product, it will be much easier. If you look at this COVID situation that we are in right now, people are working from home, so you need to control the computers wherever you are. For example, if you are using any email setup and you are hosting it on your own, all the email traffic will be going through the same network. You need to protect all of your computers from the attack. It is best if you can do it remotely rather than having an IT person to come onsite to manage all computers and metrics etc, which isn't a smart way to do it."
"I'm not aware of any areas that need improvement."
"The solution includes only Intrusion Detection and not IPS, which is an important feature that is missing in my version."
"The problem was that it didn't support Windows 7."
"It would be useful if they could automate the deployment more."
"The detection could be better in ESET Endpoint Security. Sometimes it takes time to detect threats and might be because it's not holding all the memory. There are some features that have to mature. More features might be available in the higher-end product."
"They should have better support for different languages and auto-upgrading."
"In terms of what is lacking in ESET, it really would need more features for the users when they are working outside of the corporate network."
"Sophos is lacking in the granularity of optimization, so having more control would be better."
"There could be enhancements made to the DLP."
"Sophos EPP Suite's support services need improvement."
"One area for improvement in Sophos EPP Suite is the support response time, particularly of the management team. It could be faster because I only got a response from the manager after a few days. If you open a case directly from the website, the response from the technical support agent may have been faster. I didn't open the request from the website, so that could be the reason why the response time took longer."
"It would be ideal if the price could be lowered a little bit."
"I would like to have more logging features to help more deeply analyze traffic."
"The product's resource utilization is a concern, especially regarding memory usage on systems with older specifications such as lower memory and less powerful processors."
"The encryption features are not as good as McAfee's."
