We performed a comparison between Fortra's Automate and UiPath based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Fortra's Automate performs the job effectively and has the capability to alert us of any issues."
"It gives us a central place to schedule tasks and run them distributed."
"Compared to other vendors, it's the scheduling tool because a lot of vendors want to charge you extra for their enterprise-level license to have a scheduling tool built in to give you the ability to set up regular schedules to run and do certain data checks."
"The ability to connect to websites and pull data is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The pricing is excellent. I would give them perfect marks in that regard."
"The interface is simple, user-friendly, and very intuitive."
"The licensing of the product is very good. You only need to license it once and then you have it forever."
"I like the interface; it makes managing automation easy. We can set different schedules and templates for each task."
"OCR technologies and computer vision (CV) technologies work very well and produce quality results."
"The user-friendly interface allows users to visually plan and design various automation processes through it."
"The user community is pretty great. You can find an answer to basically any query."
"Unattended robots are my favorite because it allows us to completely remove a process from a person's day."
"The cloud feature is valuable. Automation Hub and AI fabric are also good features."
"UiPath has multiple valuable features, including stability, automation, and integration with different applications."
"In terms of ease of use, I would rate the solution five out of five. It's really intuitive and any people that have the basics of coding can handle it."
"There is a good support network. Their response time is good. They will find a solution within two days."
"The vendor is currently working on a solution that allows us to automatically create a process that is based on a document that we receive via email."
"The documentation is not that great."
"We really need a free development environment for customers. Building and testing automation on production isn't ideal."
"The workflow for variables could be better. The input and output of task-level variables could be made a little clearer in terms of passing those around from one task to another upon success, etc. Things like that could be a little easier potentially."
"The documentation for errors needs improvement as many of the error messages we receive are very vague."
"I would like to see some better web automation, a wizard like the one in the product WinAutomation would be very nice."
"The OCR for Hebrew text needs to be improved."
"Error messages should be better. For error status, there should be better documentation because a lot of times, error messages that you get are quite vague. For example, you get a message saying that the workflow has run into an unknown status, which is vague. It just tells you that it failed, but you don't know how or why it failed. It makes debugging difficult."
"There were a couple of times with the on-premises version that there were complications, since it is not on UiPath's cloud. We have had a lot of complications where we are dead in water. There were a couple of conditions where we weren't able to get someone up to speed on whatever. The support is not as quick to respond as we had hoped."
"One of my biggest frustrations with UiPath is that they're constantly changing the underlying technology and adding features, so you're not always in a stable state. You're looking at the next shiny thing, and that distracts us from our initiative. Because we work with the government, we must go through the security assessment process each time they change something. We have to pay the costs associated with reviewing their infrastructure."
"One improvement that could be made is in terms of keeping the documentation updated. Some of the online documentation is outdated. Because things are always changing, it is understandable that information becomes outdated pretty quickly, but sometimes, when you want to go use something, deploy something, or troubleshoot something, the documentation says, "Do this," but what it says to do no longer exists."
"Support should be improved."
"Some of our employees also use MacBook devices for their daily work, mostly for high-graphic projects. UiPath doesn't have a complex set of features for OS X systems. If they could add more complex features for MacBooks, that would be good."
"On my organization laptop, while doing database activities, such as database connect activity, UiPath Studio hangs. We click on the screen, but there is no response. The only option that works at that time is to open the task manager and forcefully stop the services of UiPath. UiPath gets closed, and we again have to run UiPath Studio."
"There is potential there for some workflow capability. I know this would be going beyond RPA at that point, but having one platform that does a lot of things would be nice. Because as it stands, when you need to do a workflow or approval process, you need to send this out somewhere else. There are things the bot can do, but I can see some of that functionality already showing up though with the tasks and apps. However, I would like to see more."
"AI can become more intelligent to facilitate the ease of automation."
