We performed a comparison between Trend Micro Apex One and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Users feel Trend Micro Apex One is a solid choice. It is very user friendly and easy to implement. Endpoint security with zero-day vulnerability is extremely valuable. Users feel Trend Micro Smart Protection is lacking in monitoring capabilities to stop threats before they break into the network and damage it, making it a less desirable choice.
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The price is low and quite competitive with others."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR."
"It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up."
"Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"We don't use application control but instead, we use behavior monitoring, which is a good feature. The real-time scanning, data loss prevention, and endpoint sensor we use are beneficial"
"I would emphasize the ease of use and the quality of operations. Trend Micro is quite stable."
"The most valuable feature is that it's normal, and not for a specific server."
"The initial setup is very easy."
"The end user perspective is very good because the solution isn't complex to learn and support is readily available."
"This solution protects us from virus attacks before they affect the organization."
"One of the better features, in my opinion, is that it also makes use of a web reputation. For example, if someone accidentally clicks on a link in an email that leads to a malicious website, they will block it."
"The features I found most valuable in this solution are the micro apps. I also value the dashboard that offers better visibility and helps protect machines from attacks."
"It is their most comprehensive endpoint protection solution. It includes DLP and Office 365. It also includes device control and the rest of the little bells and whistles that the traditional AV vendors have."
"The solution gives users peace of mind that, form an endpoint perspective, they are protected once it is installed."
"The most valuable features are the DLP and anti-virus functionality."
"Trend Micro has consistently been recognized as a leader for endpoint security on Gartner, which has been our top priority. Based on my personal experience, we encountered fewer ransomware attacks for Trend Micro customers in Sri Lanka."
"What I like the most is the customer pricing because it's a great value."
"What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools."
"The administration through the cloud is valuable."
"The most useful feature is endpoint security."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"The support needs improvement."
"Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR."
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments."
"Detections could be improved."
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The application and web controls have room for improvement."
"The time required for Apex One to notify us of detection in the central console should be reduced."
"It would be great it can support endpoint encryption."
"The performance could always be improved."
"Its pricing should be improved. In some cases, the user interface was not ready for our proof of concept. It wasn't a beta phase service."
"The cost could be improved."
"There is room for improvement in next-gen attacks protection."
"We have had some false positives with One Endpoint Security's ransomware detection. We received an alert, but it wasn't a ransomware attack. When we did an investigation, we found it was only malware."
"The solution’s technical support is not very good and could be improved."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve automatic scanning because sometimes it pops up when I am doing my work. It would be helpful to have a feature to have it only automatically scan when the system is on standby mode. I would be able to be more efficient with my work. Additionally, security could improve."
"The solution could be more stable and secure."
"The only drawback to this solution is that it needs different products for different types of clients, and it would be better to have a single agent for all of the products."
"There is room for improvement to make it better for customers."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"Some functionalities within the DLP can be improved."
