We performed a comparison between Darktrace and Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Email Security solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Microsoft Defender has a feature to protect each and every attachment. Even if it's an encrypted attachment, it will check for any potential threats."
"I would say that 90% of the spam and phishing attack emails get blocked right off the bat."
"The initial setup is straightforward. You just add the license, click it, and then you can set up the rules. It is quite simple."
"The two main features that prove most beneficial for us are URL scanning and attachment scanning."
"The email protection is excellent, especially in terms of anti-phishing policies."
"Defender for 365 is a comprehensive cloud-based solution. The value of the cloud is that you aren't alone. Threat intelligence and analytics are shared in the cloud. We don't have to find the solution alone. If you face an unknown threat with traditional solutions like Trend Micro and Symantec, you need to open a case and send your information to them to analyze forensically and identify the source of the attack."
"The product is not resource-intensive."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 helps people to work remotely. It is a secure solution. We don't need to use our company's computers or get VPN connections to the networks. I can control how they share screens and what they send to the devices. It keeps our organizations confidential and sensitive information safe."
"The platform has many modules, and each module examines a different situation in the behavior."
"Darktrace's most valuable features are that it understands the network environment and is able to trace the traffic and alert on anomalies."
"What I like about Darktrace, is that you can quickly identify threats."
"The product can scale."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it does not require human intervention to eliminate a threat."
"Its most valuable feature is its ability to identify malicious connected IPs from outside and the attacks that get through to the inside."
"The NDR is good in their solution and they have NTG for email."
"I like the dashboards, which are cool. They are more user-friendly, in my experience. Its learning capabilities are really good."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection is the accidental release of information protection capabilities. Additionally, the solution is easy to use."
"We use the solution to receive emails. We do not use the calendar function as our clients are slow adaptors to the latest features."
"In general, my company is happy with Microsoft support...My company hasn't faced any stability issues with the solution."
"I like the product's ZAP feature."
"The scalability is pretty good; it does what it is supposed to do."
"It offers great security against malware and other threats."
"It provides security to both on-premises and Azure infrastructures."
"The pre-set policies and configuration analyzer are the most valuable features."
"The certification training for Defender for 365 needs to be deeper and incorporate Sentinel. I took all the security courses except one, and Sentinel isn't included."
"The phishing and spam filters could use some improvement."
"One area for improvement is support, in terms of being able to reach them and, especially, technical support for configuration."
"Configuration requires going to a lot of places rather than just accessing one tab."
"I'd like some additional features any product can give me to protect our environment in a better way."
"We noticed that from time to time, Microsoft's stability does have problems. Sometimes the service goes up and down. Sometimes they change without prior notice."
"There's room for improvement regarding the time frame for retrieving emails."
"One area for improvement is integration. For example, when it comes to external SaaS platforms, we were not able to get a lot of information on integrations with such apps for security and authentication."
"Its documentation is not up to the mark. At times, I have a lot of trouble finding a solution. Even when I posted questions on the community chats, it took a lot of time for me to get answers. That's something that can be improved. Darktrace can focus on creating a more interactive community. If there are more people from Darktrace to focus on community chats, it would be better."
"In terms of improvements, fine-tuning is the area where we have to spend some time because it works on unsupervised machine learning. It would be good if they can improve their algorithm or technical functionality to reduce the fine-tuning effort. They can also come up with something at the endpoint level. So far, Darktrace has been a network detection response (NDR) solution. It does not offer much at the endpoint level or on user-client devices or servers. There should be more visibility at the endpoint level. It would be good to have the detection and response at the endpoint level by Darktrace. It should also have integration with an agile environment so that we can have continuous development and continuous integration in the application development environment. This is currently not there. It should also have internet-facing platform visibility, which is currently missing. They also need to improve the reporting and management dashboards. Currently, these are not so easy for a non-technical person. All these features would make Darktrace much better, and they would also be helpful in selling more solutions."
"The program is quite expensive."
"I would like to see a feature where the tool ingests information from an anti-malware product that is present at the endpoint."
"The pricing needs improvement."
"Needs to improve its collaboration with local partners."
"Darktrace requires numerous configurations. It would be beneficial if the configuration could be made simpler."
"It would be useful if there was a way to check to see if there are certain devices that are not in sync with the solution. I'm not sure if this is an option or not."
"The solution must improve the user experience."
"They should specify the difference between Defender for Office 365 and Exchange Online Protection."
"I think the implementation could be more streamlined."
"When you're using a Microsoft product solution, you can scale it, but if you're not, there are limitations."
"It doesn't protect against everything. We do need protection for, for example, endpoints."
"The solution can be complex at times. It would be nice to have the on-server version. It needs to improve the stability as well."
"I would like to get reports about vulnerable connections from our clients with information about domains, public IPs, etc. That would be highly useful."
"Some features, like encryption, are not available."
