We performed a comparison between Grafana and ITRS Geneos based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Grafana boasts customizable and visually appealing graphs, flexible integration with other tools, and the ability to cater to multiple use cases. Meanwhile, ITRS Geneos, while highly customizable and flexible, requires a lot of manual work for creating dashboards and lacks a mobile app. It also has a complex initial setup process and may be too expensive for non-banking and non-finance industries. Overall, Grafana is more user-friendly and cost-effective, with a wider range of features and better community support, making it the preferred solution.
"Grafana's best features are live monitoring and alerts."
"Kubernetes could help us to better visualize the trend of our data by recording and displaying our history over a chosen duration, such as the last 30 days."
"It provides a graphical representation and it's clear to see what's happening."
"The solution can scale well."
"It is a stable, reliable product."
"It excels in providing comprehensive details when there are downtimes or fluctuations, offering thorough reports."
"Plugin: Connecting Grafana to multiple APIs of leading monitoring tools and alerting tools."
"The most important feature of Grafana is its alarm formatting capability."
"Tons of default modules which are available out of the box"
"I would say that it is an easy-to-use monitoring tool. Amongst the available monitoring tools, it is a really good option."
"This tool allows one to analyse, integrate and customize as per the systems and allows you to set your own rules."
"One thing we're utilizing in Geneos is the Gateway-SQL. That's really helpful for us. Using Gateway-SQL, we are able to merge two different views into one. Suppose we have to check something in the log and that we have to check something in the database and do a comparison before publishing a result. We can achieve that using Gateway-SQL."
"In my experience, being able to monitor our databases is a valuable feature as we can create our own queries and aren't reliant on the in-built ones."
"Real-time log monitoring with desktop alerts is valuable as it tells us immediately when there is an issue."
"The NetProbe carries over 100 samplers which are capable of monitoring hardware, OS, and the application layer."
"The remarkable feature of Geneos is the dashboard. Geneos' flexible dashboard sets it apart from other monitoring tools. Other solutions have limitations in their dashboard design and can't be customized as much. The Geneos dashboard allows unlimited creativity."
"The solution must provide tutorials and guides."
"Multiple dashboards combined into one dashboard has slowed things down for us."
"More dashboard is required, out-of-the-box, for OpenNMS."
"The solution should include online support."
"I had issues with the solution's configuration part."
"The solution has room for improvement with a better API to help automate the construction of the dashboards easier."
"It would be helpful if Grafana provided more information and training on how to use Prometheus."
"I have a problem with Grafana in the area of documentation."
"ITRS Geneos is not on the cloud at a time when everyone is moving to the cloud."
"Backward compatibility with deprecated features and in system documentation on what configuration areas are needed to be updated."
"ITRS have started to make some major changes that we haven't taken on board yet, in the creation of dashboards and more visibility of the metrics that we collect. At the moment, that's something that's lacking, but I know they have addressed it. Still, it’s not that easy to create stuff to help with visibility and dashboarding in Geneos."
"They have the Webslinger solution where you can see when something is alerting. It's a little bit cumbersome."
"A lightweight version which could host more than 100 gateways, as we can see slowness while loading all our gateways."
"At the moment Geneos is excellent and handling real time monitoring, however not great at doing historical reporting."
"Mobile phone integration is probably not as rich as it could be."
"ITRS Geneos cloud monitoring is very weak and can use improvement."
