We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Splunk's dashboards are great.""The most valuable features are troubleshooting and optimizing application performance.""The volume it handles is very good, including the number of metrics, the volume number of traces, and more.""The features are pretty much ready out of the box.""The solution's service map feature allows us to have a holistic overview and to see quickly where the issues are.""The most beneficial aspect of Slunk APM is the ATM, which is the map displaying the inbound and outbound relationships of the microservices, as well as the traffic between these dependencies. This feature provides us with valuable insights and helps us understand the interactions between different microservices.""It is a good tool. It allows you to set alerts for application and infrastructure monitoring, and it allows you to create dashboards.""Detectors are a powerful feature."

"Dashboard and the customization of the items and triggers are the most valuable features.""It's a flexible solution.""Health and communication links availability.""During my testing, the features that I like the most are that it can be integrated with my system, and it provides me with reports of all of my servers.""The most valuable feature is that it provides network segregation for server monitoring.""We value the auto-host discovery, template import, bulk import/export features. Newer versions also add nice features, such as multi-IP per host.""The solution allows you to configure and customize how you want to collect information from servers or other systems.""The pricing of the product is reasonable."

Cons
"The cardinality is pretty low.""Primarily, the logs in Slunk APM can be challenging to navigate and comprehend, making it difficult to understand the details within each log. Compared to other tools like LogDNA, which are more intuitive in this aspect, the logs in Slunk APM can require more effort to understand.""There are some predefined metrics.......we may want to create customized metrics.""The UI enhancements could be a way to improve the solution in the future.""It is essential for the monitoring tool to deliver quick response times when generating analytical reports, instead of prolonged delays.""Splunk APM's performance could be improved - at the moment, it's very slow and takes forever to give me what I want.""I've been using the Splunk query language, and it can be a bit time-consuming to set up the queries I need.""The licensing model is expensive. We need to monitor the amount of data ingested because the cost is based on the data collected."

More Splunk APM Cons →

"There's a small module of APM, however, it is not an enhanced version. People usually ask for a full-fledged APM solution.""The networking monitor is not too easy to work with.""The only improvement I would suggest, revolves around its AI and ML capabilities.""We had some scalability issues with a large number of nodes.""I think the reporting part of Zabbix can be improved in terms of more user-friendly graphics to display the collected data. Many simple users who don't know how to use Zabbix properly might get confused by the reporting, although at the same time it is very versatile for my company.""There are areas of improvement. The database grows really fast. So, when you install Zabbix, you have to deal with some issues, like the database. We become pretty big very fast.""The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly.""I want Zabbix to improve the UX/UI. Zabbix doesn't use a JavaScript chart for images, and I want them to improve this."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
