Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features.""It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain.""Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great.""Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR.""The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture.""The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure."

"If there is exposure, we need to investigate the source of the attack, e.g., whether it came from the network or externally. We view the firewall logs, and if there has been exposure, then we use the Application Isolation feature. When there is an attack with on-prem, that system will go into isolation mode, removing connectivity to other internal systems. We also restrict the WLAN part to avoid that system broadcasting to other networks.""The solution can be scaled to handle different threats.""Symantec End-User Endpoint Security is a stable solution.""This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease.""The best thing about Symantec is its ability to control our endpoints from a single point. You can manage the antivirus definitions, upgrades, remote scanning, etc., from one console.""The administrator's console is very good and easy to manage with it. Deploying patches, definition updates and report is simple.""I have found the solution to be very scalable, we have 700 employees using the solution in our organization.""The solution is easy to use"

"Trend Micro Smart Protection includes compliance features where you can establish rules against endpoint vulnerabilities and attack parameters. It offers Smart Detection, Smart Update, and sandboxing to detect and analyze suspicious files, providing a smart approach to zero-day threat detection. Trend Micro Smart Protection offers rapid response to zero-day threats with a strong team backing up the discovery process. Virtual patching is a crucial feature, effectively closing vulnerable ports and access points. Regarding web reputation services, aggregating data from multiple sources, including Trend Micro, Proofpoint, and others, helps inform threat prevention efforts and automate responses.""The solution has multiple modules within a single agent deployment.""The most useful feature is endpoint security.""The administration through the cloud is valuable.""The solution integrates well with other Trend Micro products.""It is a stable solution.""What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools.""Helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers."

Cons
"The solution is not stable.""The solution is not user-friendly.""I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution.""The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage.""I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components.""Detections could be improved.""We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments.""It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"The solution could improve by adding encryption. If it had encryption along with antivirus it would be better.""Since the division of the company, we have experienced a lack of support.""It would be perfect if it is capable of detecting or checking ransomware.""Installation of the tool on a workstation requires some technical knowledge, which could be more straightforward.""It seems that its not working very well with VMWare.""Symantec End-point production doesn't support the EDR function.""I know they were just bought out by Broadcom and there have been some difficulties with Broadcom as far as getting license renewals, etc. Mostly, due to the fact that it's confusing, even for the vendor, people are turned off by it. The vendors are telling us that it can take weeks for them to get a renewal quote, nevermind the actual renewal.""It needs to die. In my opinion, Symantec was a really great security company, 10, 15 years ago. They went out, they bought all the great tools and then they never did anything with them. So they've just fallen behind and there's nothing that's going to work now to bring them back up the date that's going to regain user confidence."

More Symantec Endpoint Security Cons →

"It is onsite. It does have its challenges in terms of scalability.""Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration.""I'm not sure about the cloud migration part, in terms of whether it is seamless or not.""It does not provide insights into what is being done.""Smart Protection could be more compatible with older operating systems like Windows XP and Windows 2000. Some of our clients have requested that.""Some functionalities within the DLP can be improved.""I cannot recall noticing any missing features.""This product is not very simple and in fact, kind of hard for some people to understand."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
