We performed a comparison between Trend Micro Apex One and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Users feel Trend Micro Apex One is a solid choice. It is very user friendly and easy to implement. Endpoint security with zero-day vulnerability is extremely valuable. Users feel Trend Micro Smart Protection is lacking in monitoring capabilities to stop threats before they break into the network and damage it, making it a less desirable choice.
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's scalability is quite good, and you can add licenses to the solution."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"It is available on our OS platform and will automatically scan our machines daily or weekly."
"Trend Micro Apex One most valuable features are centralized management, ease of use, and help user management. Additionally, it can detect vulnerabilities in the end-users system"
"The initial setup is not that tough. It's easy."
"The cloud-based management portal was okay."
"Its real-time features are valuable. It is in real-time, and it works fine."
"The most valuable feature is Vulnerability Protection."
"Stability is okay."
"It is easy to learn. In just two or three hours, our system administrator could learn how to use it. It is easy to integrate and easy to manage."
"The next-generation antivirus features are excellent."
"What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools."
"The administration through the cloud is valuable."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection includes compliance features where you can establish rules against endpoint vulnerabilities and attack parameters. It offers Smart Detection, Smart Update, and sandboxing to detect and analyze suspicious files, providing a smart approach to zero-day threat detection. Trend Micro Smart Protection offers rapid response to zero-day threats with a strong team backing up the discovery process. "They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments."
"The solution could be more proactive by using AI to assess the production landscape and compete with other products."
"We had issues with our system integrator who didn't have enough experience with Trend Micro. There aren't many enterprise customers in our country who use Trend Micro on the level that we are using it, so it might be a little too complex for them. Trend Micro is typically used in small companies that do not need all the advanced features that we are looking for. The integrators don't have experience deploying these features. The scope is broad, but Microsoft Defender is simpler."
"It could be more customizable."
"I would like to see the initial setup simplified to make it less complicated, and the price reduced."
"There is a need for enhancement in certain reporting formats."
"Its pricing should be improved. In some cases, the user interface was not ready for our proof of concept. It wasn't a beta phase service."
"We have to manually log in to the machines and give them an update command."
"Trend Micro Apex One could improve by making the user interface more user-friendly."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."
"The pricing of the solution can be improved."
"This product is not very simple and in fact, kind of hard for some people to understand."

"The solution should improve its mobile management solution."
"It does not provide insights into what is being done."
