Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Acronis Backup is easy to use, intuitive, and has high performance.""The solution is exceptional for desktop backup.""The main reason we went with Acronis Cyber Protect is because it provides a virtual machine backup feature.""Acronis is a flexible solution. It can back up workstations, endpoints, and even your virtual environments and cloud-based environments. So, we can do the backup of the whole gamut of products.""The solution is stable and reliable.""I've reimaged servers and been back up and running in exactly no time with the completely new hardware.""It's always stable. It's very good, useful, and user-friendly.""Centralized management is valuable to us."

"Low system overhead, setting retention policies, ease of use""t has a very user friendly status bar with common errors and has logs built in to the console so we can review the issues or status of CrashPlan.""There are a couple of things. One of them is that they have what they call Incydr. Their detection and response solution to the insider threat area is called Incydr. That gives visibility to the clients that have widely dispersed employee bases due to work from home, or that had a dispersed workforce predating any of the work from home requirements. Even though they might not be inside the organization physically, they're inside the organization. It allows us to get some visibility into what people are doing, what the context is, and how to control what might be the potential for intellectual property theft or file exposure.""It has quite a bit of flexibility in configuring backup sets.""Backup and recovery have been great, but I love having the ability to keep the hybrid type build which they offer.""The solution is very stable. Very rarely do we have any issues with it. We don't have to deal with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. We find it to be reliable.""It required very little ongoing maintenance once setup.""Security tools: Being able to monitor data going in and coming off our endpoints. Seeing what it is and where it's going is awesome."

Cons
"The solution could improve by providing more database backup features and have better integration with many different types of databases. We cannot implement it in all of our infrastructures.""Their support process can be quite lengthy...This is an area that needs improvement.""There are a lot of products out there that are a little bit stronger than Acronis where AV is concerned.""A little bit more integration would be good. It should support broader platforms.""The initial setup was complex. We had to deploy it through an external consultant team.""We have sometimes issues with the child copies and other similar functions, but it's normal with any backup solution. We need to fix those issues first in order for us to be able to do the backup properly.""The licensing approach becomes intricate when dealing with SharePoint.""Because Acronis Backup is an on-premises solution, there is extra overhead. It's harder to manage, and there's no real remote access. You have to physically log in to the machine to manage it. The reporting feature works fine, and you will be able to send out reports. However, that is where it stops. The deployment could be improved and could be through a network chain. If we need to deploy two machines that are not connected to the internet but connected to two different networks, it would be great to have a machine with dual mix that has access to the backup server and to those machines. It would be like a relay that you can install on the machine with a two-mix, and that machine can then connect to your backup server and to the other machines. You should be able to see the other machines on that network and be able to deploy to it and push jobs to it."

"In a couple of instances, we had a little bit of trouble in getting it distributed throughout the organization. We ultimately managed to do it, but they talk about it being a pretty simple process, and it became a little laborious. It would just turn away. The agents were not being distributed. It was just churning and churning and churning. When we were looking for specific categories of data, it was getting bogged down, but that was not even so much Code42, although some of it was their issue.""Due to recent changes that effectively abandoned an entire segment of their user base, I no longer trust nor can recommend Code42 products.""The application, written in Java, required far more system resources on a Client than other solutions.""Reporting could use an overhaul. It is very limited.""You can't always filter out data that you'd like to.""There doesn't seem to be any feature that is lacking.""Java, please get rid of Java.""What I think could be improved is how I get support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
  • "Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
  • "I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
  • "It has already paid off itself in the first few months that we implemented it."
  • "When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
  • "I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well. "
  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."

  • "They were the best solution and surprisingly enough, the cheapest."
  • "It is 100% worth the cost to get and keep the support, especially when setting it up."
  • "It used to be a good solution for SOHO in particular as it had unlimited storage for a reasonable price. However, their pricing model has changed and they are now primarily targeting enterprise users."
  • "The pricing is reasonable. It's my understanding that the cost is about $7 for unlimited storage in the cloud per server."
  • "It was expensive. It was more expensive than Eureka, and it was more expensive than Barracuda Backup, but what we got was a full team. They didn't come in and nickel and dime us. They provided the assistance we needed. They didn't say that they need to charge us for something or it is going to take another statement of work. It was all bundled into it... We pay for the software maintenance. It is probably 18% or 20% of the license fee for rev releases."
