Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database.""Alteryx Designer is stable.""Alteryx Designer is easier to use for machine learning models. However, I am not very good at Python scripts which you will need to make the machine learning scripts.""The features I found most valuable are the preparation features – the Join and the Transform.""The most valuable feature of Alteryx Designer is its ability to select all the inputs and formulas.""The solution is user-friendly.""It has great UI.""When you open a raw Excel file, it can be hard to look at everything in detail. Alteryx makes it much easier to go through the data, summarize it, and use different tools for analysis."

"Data transformations and rollups are easy to accomplish.""WhereScape RED has improved our business's ability to generate needed reporting without requiring a large team of developers to manually code all of the necessary plumbing.""WhereScape is really helpful in terms of architecture data. Everything is one of automation. Two people can do thousands of tables in one day or two. It saves a lot of time.""WhereScape's deployment package is a fantastic feature. The application allows for selecting specific objects that you would like to deploy from one environment to another rather than deploying the entire database.""Naturally produces a way to easily debug your DW data solutions.""I like the data vault implementations.""Support is absolutely excellent, efficient, and timely.""It has a built-in automatic scheduling environment."

Cons
"The major concern in Alteryx Designer stems from the high costs attached to the product.""Alteryx Designer overall should be easier to use.""Alteryx needs to improve its web governance. The gallery you use to filter the data is something else that could use some work. For instance, if you have a report connected to a database and want to filter a specific user, you should be able to suggest a specific region or a particular year. I know that the Alteryx isn't designed for data governance, but that would be great to think about.""The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now.""If the price were reduced then it would be more competitive.""Alteryx's data science and machine learning capabilities are where it loses out to DataIQ.""Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, the solution works slowly.""Its price can be improved. It is too expensive for our country. Because of its high price, we can't sell Alteryx Designer in this region. We used to be their reseller partner. There is also an additional cost for automating the data and running the flows, which makes it even more expensive. It will be very good if they can let users automate the data for free. Other solutions like Tableau provide this feature for free."

More Alteryx Designer Cons →

"Customization could be better.""No support for change data capture or delta detection - that must be custom coded .""The solution can be a little more user-friendly on enterprise-level where people use it.""Technical support isn't the best.""The ability to execute SSIS projects within WhereScape would be nice because we have a lot of packages that are too cumbersome to recreate.""Jobs cannot be deleted via the deployment package. When deploying from dev to QA or production, a job has to be retired. The job has to be manually removed from the target environment.""It could use a tool to diagnose what is missing from the environment for WhereScape to install successfully.""They need a more robust support center. It has been a bit difficult to find solutions to problems that are out-of-the-box."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
  • "Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."
  • "Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
  • "I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten for pricing."
  • "The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
  • "Each license is something like $4,000."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
