We performed a comparison between Apache JMeter and SmartBear TestComplete based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Apache, OpenText, Tricentis and others in Performance Testing Tools."It is scalable. You can scale up to 1,000 users in JMeter. If you can put up four slave servers, you can easily ramp up to 1,000 users."
"The reporting features are really good. There's a lot less latency than other solutions."
"It gives accurate results and recommendations that we can implement to enhance the performance of websites."
"We are using this for performance testing and some automation."
"It is very quick and user-friendly."
"User-friendly and open source."
"The most valuable features are the ability to capture the entire traffic of particular pages and the proper readability of entire pages and entire APIs."
"It is open source as well as relatively extendable. It allows us to extend and add additional functionality and features. Its deployment is also very easy."
"When compared to other tools, it is very simple."
"It works very fine. It is fast on almost any machine, and it is also very well organized. I like its object mapping and its capability to find and interact with almost everything that exists on Windows."
"It is a strong automation tool for desktop, browser, and API testing."
"The solution is mainly stable."
"Customer service and technical support responsiveness are high. Everyone is very professional."
"This company offers end-to-end capabilities for test suite creation and execution. One feature that I particularly appreciate is the tagging system. Tags are highly valuable, as they allow you to assign tags to your test cases. When there's an impact in a specific area, you can search for and run all test cases associated with that tag. I find this functionality very useful."
"Runs in different remote machines. We have multiple versions of the software being tested."
"The most valuable features are the desktop and mobile modules."
"The reports in Apache JMeter could improve."
"If JMeter could integrate with the EPM solution, it would be great. It could also be improved by offering more integrations for security. For example, most applications are secure with OpenID Connect protocols."
"Its reporting could be improved. There should be a better visual representation. That would be helpful for easy consumption of the reports."
"Until now, JMeter is not supporting most of the protocols."
"The plug-ins make the reports heavy and they have to be run in non-GUI mode."
"I need to consider it further because as features increase, it might become more complicated, and my goal has always been simplicity. Currently, I have to focus on other tasks, and I'm handling multiple responsibilities, so I can't juggle everything at once. However, if you ask me, I believe EJB covers most functionalities that are crucial. One improvement I'd suggest is adding a graphical aspect to the Gateway, making it a bit more colorful. Unlike JMeter, which lacks color, having a bit of color in the graphical aspects would be beneficial. Overall, for the essential features, EJB should work fine."
"If the solution was GUI based, I believe that it would be more versatile."
"The stability could be a bit better."
"The code editor, though following eclipse-style, is still a work in progress and gives a very poorly formatted code once viewed via other editing tools."
"This solution could be improved by making it easier to visualize where there is a failure without having to look at it in detail."
"One notable drawback is the absence of native integration with Git."
"In SmartBear TestComplete the integration with Jenkins could be easier. Additionally, some of the controls could have better customization options. For example, if a grid is used and it contains multiple controls within it, it can be a checkbox, radio button, or any kind of control, the way the Object Spy is operating currently there is a lot of room for improvement."
"The test object repository needs to be improved. The hierarchy and the way we identify the objects in different applications, irrespective of technology, needs adjustments. The located and test objects are not as flexible compared to other commercial tools."
"To bring it up to a 10, I would be looking for the addition of some key functional API testing."
"If that engine could better identify more XPaths automatically and make the process more flexible, that would be better."
"The solution needs Mac OS support. Right now, the solution has only been developed to accommodate Windows OS."
