Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can view the server activities, including issues in the process, with a single click.""This solution gives us quite good insights that we might otherwise overlook, or it might take a really long time to debug those issues.""It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I don't see any problems in the solution...The solution's technical support was good.""I like Business iQ the most, so far. It has great analytics configurations and I can get real-time updates. We have eCommerce releases every week. So the one use case that I use Business iQ is to compare before and after release performance using AppDynamics.""The platform is reliable in identifying the core system issues.""Setting up the monitoring agents was straightforward.""What I like most about AppDynamics Server Monitoring is that it's easy to manipulate and easy to implement. All solutions have the same features, but what sets AppDynamics Server Monitoring apart is that it's really quick to implement. AppDynamics Server Monitoring has a great interface. As a developer, it doesn't matter whether it's SolarWinds, Dynatrace, or any APM you're using, but it would matter to the customer. A product must be easy to manipulate or use, for example, AppDynamics Server Monitoring, for the customer, but for developers like my team, there's no pressure, even if a solution requires coding.""The product has the ability to drill down to the errors whenever we have issues."

"When it comes to features, the power pack is the most valuable.""Power packs.""The flexibility to support most technologies. The way ScienceLogic gathers data from multiple sources is vital to our customers. As we work with new customers (often with different technology requirements), ScienceLogic is flexible enough to support our clients’ varying network needs.""The most valuable features of ScienceLogic are AI and machine learning.""The tool is quite easy to deploy, and it offers very good support.""It has good monitoring capabilities across cloud environments, data centers, and hybrid environments.""The solution provides good infra-monitoring features.""Provides agentless monitoring so there's no need to install the agent on each server."

Cons
"An area for improvement in AppDynamics Server Monitoring is integration; in particular, it needs a better way to integrate with custom applications such as Siebel CRM. Right now, it's challenging to integrate AppDynamics Server Monitoring with Siebel CRM because it sometimes gives an error and cannot integrate properly.""The product’s dashboard could be more easy to implement.""AppDynamics Server Monitoring has room for improvement in terms of pricing. If the price could be cheaper, it would be great for both the customer and the integrator. What I'd like to see in the next release of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a better dashboard for the customer. The dashboard should be more interactive.""I would like the ability to choose from some pre-defined dashboards and reports because as it is now, you have to define them separately for each implementation.""I could not find a user-friendly interface for querying, and analytics sometimes gives the wrong results...I feel that analytics could have been better in searching and running the analytical queries.""The tool should provide information like the number of connections and processes utilized in real time.""In the next release, I would like to see the configuration of the data and more support for new applications. It should support new languages.""If we consider the implementation of alternative solutions, such as Dynatrace, there is a notable difference in the approach to agent-based service monitoring. For instance, Dynatrace employs a single-agent solution, which can pose security concerns. When installing Dynatrace, granting the agent ld pro payload rights is a requirement. In contrast, our solution ensures a more secure approach by not requiring root and administration access. While we currently utilize an agent-based solution, there may be a shift in the next one or two years, possibly with the adoption of Open Telemetry. It's anticipated that many APM vendors, including Dynatrace, may alter their structure or strategy for implementation. However, as of now, the trend is towards an increasing number of implementations daily."

"ScienceLogic does not have application monitoring. We definitely need something integrated within ScienceLogic to monitor applications so that we don't have to rely on monitoring tools to monitor other applications. At least the ones that are market leaders, such as SAP, Oracle, and others.""ScienceLogic should provide detailed documents to customer as the current documents are not sufficient.""They should improve database issues in HA and Failover mode, and provide documentation for all users , even if they are not customers.""From a performance perspective, it needs to improve a lot.""The product must educate its strategic partners for deployment.""It was challenging onboarding users.""One important area we feel could be improved is the UI. It takes a lot of clicks to do very simple tasks.""They need a little more self-service."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "My understanding is that the price of this solution is quite high, compared to other products."
  • "The pricing for AppDynamics Server Monitoring in Africa and the Middle East is too expensive, so it's very hard to sell it to customers. If there could be different pricing or package for the region, that would be great. My company pays for the license of AppDynamics Server Monitoring on a per-agent, per-server basis. It's $700 to $1000 per server, and it's paid annually. My company is on a subscription model for the solution. On a scale of one to five, where one is expensive and five is cheap, my rating for the price of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a two."
  • "The solution has a high cost."
  • "AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a very expensive product, but if you negotiate well, you get value for money...My company used to make early payments toward the licensing costs of the solution, but now my company has opted for a different licensing model."
  • "The tool is expensive."

  • "Pricing between the two is quiet large therefore you can save some money if you don't require to collect all info on each device."
  • "Decide what you want to monitor and only monitor those items. Absorb other elements as you grow."
  • "Plan for adding more to it. Once you see EM7 in action, you will want to keep adding systems to monitor."
  • "It comes with the OS built in, so no need to purchase an OS license or DB license."
  • "Its price could be lower, but for what you pay, you got a lot of value from its features and functionalities. Customers always want a discount or a cheaper solution."
  • "The pricing model for ScienceLogic could improve."
  • "The solution is license-based. It's between $8 and $15, depending on what you need from the product."
  • "I'm not the best person to discuss pricing, but what I do know is that it's a use-and-go structure. You use this much storage and pay this much for it. That's how it is. Every time, we continue to add a large amount of data to the environment."
