We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It helps all the portfolio managers and the program managers to take stock of the financial situation at the program and portfolio level, because it rolls up all the financials at the product level.""Transparency and just having the ability to procure information that is pertinent.""The most valuable features of Broadcom Clarity PPM are demand, project, and product management.""It's very good out of the box, without configurations required.""Having information all together in one single source.""It is very intuitive. Even if you do not have training documents or anything, you can start feeling your way around pretty easily.""The solution is technically fine and user friendly.""The new UX is great because it has helped remove some of those barriers, so that people who are not classically trained project managers can easily get up to speed in using the tool without having to learn a whole other tool set. It's very intuitive, and very collaborative, and very easy to adapt to their existing work styles."

"The solution is stable and reliable.""We utilize time tracking and reports most often.""The most valuable feature of Wrike is the tag functionality.""This is a good tool for project progress tracking and sharing tasks with internal and external parties.""We can easily write down the tasks and reorganize them as well as have a progression index. Wrike offers several views including a kanban view and Gantt chart view.""Visibility and organization are the most valuable features of Wrike.""The product is intuitive. It is easy to learn and update. You can follow the project from the beginning till the end with the help of the solution. The tool helps to update the project in seconds.""In our company, we heavily rely on Wrike. Wrike has helped in communication, managing all sorts of projects and tasks, and having a history of all our correspondence items."

Cons
"One of the major pain points for me when it comes to Broadcom Clarity PPM is the new UI. The new UI is very good in terms of functionality and the drag and draw features, but it's not very responsive. When I say that it's not very responsive, what I mean is that sometimes, the tool is not very user-friendly. For example, a user saves a value on the form, but the tool doesn't give any indication to the user that the value has been saved. Some users are moving from the classic UI to the new UI, and end up getting confused because on the classic UI, when you click "Save", it'll save the information and you'll get an indication that it was saved. With the new UI, it auto saves the information, but it doesn't give an indication in the form of a popup box that "this form has been saved", or any type of message indicating that the information was successfully saved. It's been confusing for users who move to the new UI because of that. The users don't understand when the values are being saved or not being saved, even if there's an auto-save feature in the new UI.""In the timesheet UX, you can't do things like splitting time, managing overtime versus regular time, very easily. That would be helpful.""In terms of what could be improved, the end user interface could be improved to be more intuitive, because we sometimes have issues with customization. Sometimes we are not able to customize everything for the end user's interface, and they require more customization. We should be able to perform a deeper customization here.""Portfolio Management Solution for Project Strategizing" What is our primary use case? It is mainly used for project management, developing the portfolio of the project and the budget process of all projects. What is most valuable? For a very long time, Broadcom Clarity had not developed the old interface that Broadcom no and we were not able to see any new features on the system because of the older UEX. We switched to the new UX at the end of March and it needs some time for the user to react to the new features. But if overall main features are being talked about, the financial part of Clarity is really appreciated. What needs improvement? Among things to be improved, Clarity can really work on its SAP interface. The current interface lacks out-of-the-box connectors for different applicators in the system. Therefore, this requires external support, which is beyond our expertise. In-house development is done for the interface, but as the system becomes complex, there is a building need to maintain the necessity of updates. If the updates aren’t maintained, then the system might be compatible. Additionally, the report generation process using a different software poses difficulties, leading to the need for external consultancy to create specific reports. Certain features, also face compatibility issues with our existing system. Despite these limitations, we find the system satisfactory overall, although a learning curve exists, especially for those unfamiliar with its particularities.""The solution could improve the way the workflow is developed. I think they could be more dynamic because they are in a way static. They're very powerful, but they don't have any interaction with end-users.""I would like to see more team-based management, and less people-based management; as far as the resource management goes, to do it per team and not per person.""In the future, I would like to see integrated Agile features and better integration with Agile tools.""When we upgraded to 15.1, we had some challenges around Jaspersoft, and also some issues with supporting some of the complex process work flows that we had designed internally, that were affected by some changes in the process engine."

More Broadcom Clarity Cons →

"Wrike needs to be more responsive to community requests for new features.""This solution could be improved if we were able to better analyze how the application consumes cloud resources as this can cause a delay in performance.""We faced an issue with the Wrike outlook add-on; it is only available for Microsoft Office 365, and not the on-premise version.""What annoys me with Wrike and things that I would like to improve is that you need to have a very organized workflow that everyone in the company follows, and only then will Wrike work.""It would be great if they could develop more reporting.""On one side, it's very easy to create a task with text, but on the other side, it's not very well-formatted. Therefore, it's difficult to track specific data written in a task. We are making templates, but it's not enough to use a template to know the exact status of different tasks. One thing that we are looking for in Wrike is a better workflow. Because we can only move the status of tasks, we can't really manage workflow and send a task to a specific person. This is what is really missing in Wrike as compared to other tools. We are looking to replace Wrike because we need support for workflow. Another issue with Wrike is that they bring a lot of versions of the tool, which it's not so easy. They bring new versions very frequently, and these versions look similar. For example, we are using robots to read the tasks in the tools, which is problematic with Wrike because it is changing very frequently.""We feel that the actual project reports and roll-ups could be a lot different. We are seeking something more for the dashboard. We would like a high-level dashboard that can be broken down into individual product roll-ups and tasks that are assigned. If you assign someone to a task, it assigns them all of the tasks under that. We want to be able to break those down so that a person doesn't have an 800 task list, for example. We want more separation with that and a higher-level dashboard experience.""The response from the website is a little bit slow, and the tool is too expensive for a small team."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
  • "Better understanding of requirements and how it will be implemented (with number of licenses for a given budget) would help."
  • "It is a little bit costly compared to others, but it is mature. Customer should understand this product is geared towards project management, not financial management."
  • "It is hard for them to say, "I have a person on my team who is going to be available, I am going to move that task to them". That requires a project management license, it doesn't require a team member license, so the licensing model does not sometimes support the way the business world is going."
  • "We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
  • "Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
  • "There are different licensing models with Broadcom Clarity PPM. With the software as a service model, you pay as you go, and if you are on-premises, you can buy a perpetual license and an annual fee for maintenance."
  • "Cost-wise, the tool is very expensive and some tools might be able to cater to 80% of the functionality provided by Broadcom Clarity PPM but are not as expensive."
  • More Broadcom Clarity Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Wrike is not so expensive, but I don't know exactly how it compares with other tools. Wrike might not be so cheap when we are using it for a lot of users."
  • "From a pricing perspective, I would rate Wrike a four out of five."
  • "Wrike is expensive."
  • "Wrike is very expensive, and its price is almost $1,400."
