Q&A Highlights
Question: Which product would you choose and why: Mist AI and Cloud or Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN?
Answer: Had so many problems with Meraki in the past 5 years. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. The last problem was intermittent problems connecting to an SSID, the helpdesk answer was: "make the password less complex". It was passw0rd. Roaming always seems to break whenever they do an update. One time it took more than a year to fix the issues, couldn't upgrade the firmware for more than a year. Every time I reported a problem, they wanted to upgrade our firmware, but they hadn't fixed the roaming problem. Wifi works so much better now when we moved away from Meraki. Plus, we don't have to pay the license fee anymore.

"The most valuable feature is cloud management.""The visibility of the site is most useful.""The most valuable features in Cisco Meraki Wireless LAN are that we were able to see all the registered users for each particular WAP, which is a big help. The roaming allows us to have continuous wireless throughout the building. The signal can carry over from one WAP to another. Which is probably the most important feature.""The solution is trustworthy. I find it easy and secure.""It is very handy to have a support number to call.""I really love their cloud-based dashboard which allows me to see all my locations from one location.""It's simple to manage when there's a problem.""I can control any number of sites globally with a lean IT team."

"The tool's best part is the GUI. It is user-friendly and fast due to AI features. The solution can help you fix things with AI, which is impressive.""It's really easy to provision and support. Those are its main features.""The most valuable aspect is that they operate on small microservices, offering numerous open APIs that enhance the value of our Wi-Fi network. This flexibility allows us to optimize various aspects such as workforce planning and occupancy management. The platform is highly open in the market, providing robust APIs for seamless integration with other tools. Currently, we leverage these capabilities at a building site, incorporating IoT sensors to gather data. The collected data is stored in a centralized location, and we plan to use AI for analysis. This analysis will include insights on peak activity times, humidity levels, temperature variations, and other relevant metrics within the building.""AI is the most valuable feature.""Regarding features, the solution seems to be very intuitive.""Natural language patching is an important feature.""Ability to control the access points by groups.""The cost is the most valuable aspect of this solution."

  • "Negotiate the deal put in front of you!"
  • "At this price point, I would not mind seeing a four-way channel, instead of a 3x3 or a 4x4, like they do in the Cisco Aironet system with their other brand. For the same price point in this other Cisco brand, it is a lot cheaper, and you can get a slightly better throughput than you can with these."
  • "If you are wondering if Meraki can work for you, contact one of their representatives because they will do onsite trials where you can set up their system. If it does not work, you can send it back to them for no charge."
  • "The price is negotiable."
  • "It's a pretty good value, but not great. Pricing is on a yearly basis for the Meraki solution."
  • "The price is good, but it could be improved."
  • "You have to renew your contract every year, or for three or for five years. If you do not pay right away they will suspend your subscription."
  • "The pricing is based on a subscription and is a bit high at the moment."

  • "The price of this product is approximately the same as competing products in the market."
  • "The price is about the same compared to other vendors. There is an add-on license, but it's up to you if you want to buy it or not."
  • "The price of Mist AI and Cloud is approximately 20 percent less than competitors, such as Aruba and Cisco. However, Cisco has a lifetime warranty for its solutions."
  • "The solution's price is too high for the end-users. My customers pay 1,000 USD towards the licensing cost of the solution every year."
  • "Depending on the features, I think it's quite reasonably priced, especially considering the facilities of the product."
  • "I rate the pricing a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is low and ten is high."
