We performed a comparison between GravityZone Business Security and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."This is stable and scalable."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"The initial setup of Bitdefender GravityZone Elite is easy."
"The solution is the cheapest in the market."
"Bitdefender GravityZone Elite is efficient and lightweight. We have to do security audits every year and we saw how secure Bitdefender GravityZone Elite was, even the plan testers had difficulties taking control of a computer when it was protected. The solution was always rejecting the attacks of the test hackers, it has very good protection."
"The ease of deployment via our RMM tool has been good."
"I like that the tool is a bit simple to use. In terms of handling phishing and rate mitigation, it is quite good. The product is stable. I rate it a perfect ten. The solution is scalable. I rate it an eight out of ten, with ten being the highest. The initial setup is straightforward. I have seen a return on investment."
"The most valuable feature of Bitdefender GravityZone Elite is its ease of use."
"GravityZone provides information about over-the-air data flow, standalone application security, and the infrastructure architecture required to meet the standalone security requirements of the complete SaaS infrastructure."
"Offers network security protection. Management and maintenance of this solution is easy."
"Provides good vulnerability assessment."
"One of the valuable features of the solution is the small updates that keep my machine relatively clean from any infections."
"There are a couple of features, such as isolating the devices or connecting the device and connecting live response."
"Defender has very little impact on the end-user and the agent works quite well with a minimal impact on the client and server."
"It's effective against most types of infection, and the firewall is perfect for protection."
"Coming from an organization where the EDR wasn't strong, it has always been a case of basically searching through the information you already have and looking for something. It was basically trying to find the needle in a haystack. What the Defender platform does is that it reduces the size of the haystack, and it'll say that the needle is over here. Minutes matter, and it certainly zeros you in on the events that are concerning. It also simplifies the effort of trying to get some kind of correlation of behaviors or actions you see in the environment and confirming if something is benign or a threat."
"The antivirus is the most valuable feature."
"It is a straightforward setup."
"I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later."
"The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud."
"The support needs improvement."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"Upgrades are heavy and require back up, making you feel like you're doing a fresh installation of this solution. Configuration can also be quite tedious if you want it to be configured based on your needs."
"The initial setup of Bitdefender GravityZone Elite was a little complex. It's not for the average home user. You need to know what you're doing and understand what you're doing. During the deployment, it took us approximately an hour and a half to understand fully the way we wanted it to be set up, and then from there, it wasn't too bad."
"Bitdefender GravityZone Elite could improve the ease of use and add more features. Other solutions have more features such as Kaspersky Antivirus. For example, I could not remote connect with Microsoft Windows with Kaspersky Antivirus and the reports were better. Additionally, I have had difficulty ending tasks with solutions."
"Bitdefender GravityZone Elite could improve by having a patch management function to become part of the solution. For now, it's a separate module subscription. For example, in my company, all the endpoints are sending the information about network attacks and detected malware, to the GravityZone console, and from the console, you can send all these alerts, to another solution, such as Syslog. This is a very important point for us because, this architecture, is similar to having hundreds of threat sensors in the company. The endpoint is a threat sensor and this is very important. From a security perspective, I'm not expecting anything more. However, I'm expecting patch management to become part of GravityZone, and not a separate subscription. This would be a large benefit to us."
"From an administration perspective, the tool lacks functionalities related to RMM and MDM. The tool should offer add-ons, like RMM and MDM."
"The support from Bitdefender GravityZone Elite could be better."
"If an enterprise already has existing security features or products, GravityZone Business Security could integrate with them. This will make it a cost-effective solution without replacing their current setup."
"The reporting functionality is quite minimal, and there are no alerts available. We are missing email encryption capabilities. We’ve also faced a few minor issues with the solution’s scalability."
"I miss having an executive dashboard or a simple view for viewing things. Everything is extensive in this solution. Everything is configurable and manageable, but the environment of Microsoft 365 has about 13 administrative dashboards, and in each of the dashboards, there are a gazillion things to set up. It is good for a large enterprise, but for a 200-seat client, you need to see 5% of that."
"The second major area for improvement involves enhanced capabilities for different operating systems or platforms. That is, even though we have coverage for different operating systems or platforms such as Linux, we don't get all of the controls and enhanced capabilities that are available with Windows devices."
"On the Mac OS platform, there is no parity between Windows and Mac OS. The solution is very feature-rich and very well-integrated into Windows, and I guess baked into Windows 10 and Windows 11. Whereas, on the Mac OS platform, there is still some work there to give it a more feature-reach platform."
"There is a lot of information to take in, and the portals tend to change quickly due to the fast-paced nature of the industry."
"They're in the process of pulling more things together. They can continue with the integrations and provide a better way of seeing the impact of security changes, especially on the endpoint side. Before we actually flip the switch, we should be able to see the impact of security changes on the business or business applications. It would prevent breaking any business applications."
"It would be helpful if they offered video tutorial guides."
"The time to generate certain alerts on our dashboard can take between 45 minutes to an hour, and I am unsure of the factors that influence this duration."
"It can be more secure."
