We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We could literally swap out a piece of hardware, slide one back into the chassis, and immediately - about three reboots later - it was identical. We didn't have to worry about configuring it, we didn't have to spend any time getting anything into place. It came back and it healed the environment almost immediately.""OneView provides a single console, which is manageable without physical access.""Gives us one platform to monitor and access or configure all the servers or the 3PAR, etc.""We have the dashboard up on a big screen, and you can actually see when things go wrong or if there are any faults with any of the servers. The backup is automated as well, so the appliance is quite good.""The template management makes the deployment of the firmware updates much faster.""If you have a lot of devices, like we do, then you have to have one single pane of view, otherwise we lose too much time. So, we needed this type of solution.""Provides the strongest support for automation.""Profile templates: The ability to generate the profiles and lay them down so the servers are built consistently. I would say that's probably the biggest piece of it."

"I like the general usability for general configuration. It is sufficient for everyday operations.""Since we began using Nutanix the performance for virtual desktops is much better.""The recent life cycle management feature is really helpful to us. Before that, we had to do everything manually, but now it's like a one-stop shop. We can upgrade firmware and all of the software from there. Also, managing storage information and other hardware-related resources is easy using Prism.""Nutanix Prism's dashboard is very simple, and you don't need much knowledge to use it.""What I like the most are the self-healing and the ability to see everything at a glance, from metrics to the resiliency status of the hardware. As soon as you log in, that's what you see.""It is stable and reliable.""I don't know how to explain how much time and effort switching to Nutanix HCI has saved us. It's 80 percent more time-efficient and convenient than having to use multiple interfaces to deal with storage and compute in our hypervisor.""I am very satisfied with the technical support."

Cons
"The solution's console can be improved by making it more user-friendly and adding the capability to filter the reports out using only the information required.""The solution could add storage, integration services, and end-to-end support for Cisco switches or other competitor products.""The interface is a bit bland. It does its job, but it could have a better interface.""HPE OneView should be able to cover more device models apart from ProLiant and Synergy.""Technical support is not very good. The engineers do not know a lot about the product, even when asked simplistic questions.""We have a version 3 and a version 1.2, but the upgrade process from the 1.2 to the 3 is kind of an issue.""The speed and performance of the solution are areas where the product lacks and needs improvement.""Use it, but do not think it is going into the clouds, because it is not. There is room for improvement."

"Nutanix is a great product, but I won't say it is a data center product. If it could leverage or work with non-Nutanix infrastructure, it would be a total data center solution. Right now, with Prism Central, we can only manage Nutanix clusters.""The process of converting and importing virtual machines to the Nutanix environment is quite complicated.""There are no firewall policies.""In the next release, I would like the ability to browse data stores.""The three clusters we have at our remote offices are just one-node clusters. If there were an easier way to upgrade items such as the BIOS, SATA drives, the BMC, et cetera, on those, that would be helpful.""The pricing could be improved.""I would like to see the integration of native, one-click "open support ticket" functionality for errors generated by the system within Prism. Currently, we have to manually open a support ticket in a separate web browser and manually input the error information.""Although this solution has very good analytics capabilities, it can be even more granular."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc."
  • "Use it. It is free."
  • "I am happy with the price."
  • "HPE could lower the price."
  • "I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
  • "The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
  • "Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
  • "This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD."

  • "A lot of my customers complain about the price of renewals, so I think that this can be improved."
  • "Compared to VMware, the price of this solution is great."
  • "Nutanix Prism is priced better than some of the competing solutions."
  • "This product is cheaper than using VMware."
  • "The license we bought for Nutanix Prism is perpetual, so once you have it, you can keep on using it. It's a three-year license that's paid one time. The license we have covers the three-node cluster."
  • "The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
  • "We have spent a lot of money on the Nutanix solution with Prism. Yet, for this amount of money we could be buying high-end storage with a lot of IOPS and bandwidth, even more than with Nutanix."
  • "Nutanix have bundles for pricing. On a single bundle, we get everything including vSAN or VMware and there are no additional costs. It is just a single license that is needed."
