Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The feature that stands out for me is the simplicity and ease of use. That is what comes to mind when I think about the Prism console. You don't need to be a core technical person to manage a cluster. Everything is available in the console itself.""The auto-update option is a valuable feature for us.""The Clone and Snapshot features are two of the most valuable aspects of the solution for our organization. Rather than simply one-click automation the Snapshot and reverse Snapshot are great.""One valuable aspect of Nutanix Prism is how easy it is to set up. The setup process is useful to us because all we need to do is to set some variables and go with the recommended settings.""The pricing is very good if you compare it to other competitors.""Everything has been valuable, without a doubt the server is self-managed with Prism in an efficient way, it solves possible logical errors to maintain production without interruptions, it's great.""There are so many valuable features but Nutanix Flow for microsegmentation of the network, and the Life Cycle Manager for dating hardware and software are among the most important for us.""The ability to do snapshots is fantastic. It does a great job. Not only do snapshots work great, but you can take a snapshot on the fly. The snapshot takes a second to complete. You can then make a change and test it out to see if it works. If you have any problem, just roll it right back."

"It has also definitely reduced the time to troubleshoot issues. The fact that it gives us that single pane of glass to look for stuff, that's the first stop whenever we start troubleshooting.""The most valuable feature is the ability to right-size a workload, based on historical data for that workload. It also allows us to "sanity-check" the entire infrastructure by getting monthly reports on how everything is performing and where we can make improvements. That's all done automatically, without any administrator involvement.""It allows me to see how my entire infrastructure is performing in a simplified manner.""The alerting feature would be the most valuable feature for us. It gathers more metrics. In the latest versions, there are metrics that are being exactly captured with vCenter which are a bit better. Aside for that it provides a historical analysis of metrics over time.""The last two versions of it, we've gone with the integrated, high-availability built into the product, and that was a welcome change for us. It's even better now not having to have any kind of load-balancer in front of it...""Troubleshooting is one of the most valuable features for us. It identifies problems that other monitoring solutions are giving us, offers us insight into the problem and then digs into it and finds out what the actual problems are and addresses them.""Monitoring is the most valuable feature for us. When our customers have a problem and we can monitor it in real time or evaluate the history of the problem.""The system dashboards allow us to drill down into systems and find how they are talking to each other. They allow us to fix issues quickly and easily for the end user."

Cons
"Although this solution has very good analytics capabilities, it can be even more granular.""I would like to see the capability to use FC SAN storage.""The price could be improved.""The replication we have does not have any backup systems built-in. We have to separate license records for backup, like onboard. We would like to have this in a future release.""They don't have many organized documents for troubleshooting problems. If you look at the support portal or the website, you will not get detailed information about problems or redirection to more information. They should continue working on the software solution but enlarge the documentation.""I would like to see the integration of native, one-click "open support ticket" functionality for errors generated by the system within Prism. Currently, we have to manually open a support ticket in a separate web browser and manually input the error information.""Sometimes the life cycle management function of Nutanix can't find the latest version of the firmware. The lifecycle management product could be more up-to-date.""The three clusters we have at our remote offices are just one-node clusters. If there were an easier way to upgrade items such as the BIOS, SATA drives, the BMC, et cetera, on those, that would be helpful."

More Nutanix Prism Cons →

"They should make it easier to find those granular things that you're always looking for. You're always running into a situation where you want to use the tool to figure out a problem, but the amount of effort needed to delve into vROps and find the exact metric you're looking for is always so difficult.""With our environment right now, stability is the one sticking point. There hasn't been a great deal of handholding in between the different versions, so we've run into problems with there being what I would call "more than just the average change between versions" and it's caused a loss of data for us in the past.""We would like to have monitoring for containers.""Maybe the interface is a little bit archaic. It needs to be updated and again we're on view 6.2, we're not even on 7 yet. So maybe it's changed, but a more modern look and approach.""I would like to see a full RESTful API for everything and PowerCLI modules that interact with more of the different features. It doesn't have a complete API set and it's not a complete PowerCLI module yet. I'd love to see that developed more, to be able to interact with other applications and automation.""I haven't had to use technical support for this version but I have had to use them in the past with other versions. There have been some challenges with them. It's hard to get through to the right person and resolving issues in previous versions was hard.""The initial setup was very straightforward. From the web interface, you can literally just go straight into actually installing vROps with very little previous knowledge required to get it up and running.""It was just a case of going in, looking around, learning it, and just getting a little bit of initial help for a few days."
