We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The system allows for seamless learning experiences, facilitating quick and easy cloning of environments within minutes.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe will quickly overcome all the hurdles you face, including network and latency issues.""We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""It is very easy to install and configure. It has got excellent diagnostics. If you really need to see how the box is performing, the console gives you a lot of information. You can set thresholds as well as alerts based on the thresholds, which is a very powerful functionality. They are very proactive. They know how to monitor and manage the systems. They see a problem, and they are all over it before us. They see the problem before we see it, which is very good.""It has benefited my organization because it has reduced time to insights.""The standout features for us in Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its robust DDoS protection, seamless transparent failover, and failback capabilities ensuring high availability."

"The solution's pricing is its most valuable feature.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the price to performance ratio.""The deduplication features and the graphical user interface (GUI) of the solution are the most valuable to me.""The most valuable feature for me is that it deduces better, whereby it can be assigned six times the usable capacity, depending on the nature of the data.""The product offers good performance.""Most of the features which all enterprises storages solutions have are available in Huawei OceanStor Dorado.""The installation and management are very easy.""The customer support is helpful."

"The most valuable features of this solution are the rewrite speed and the nonstop services.""It has absolutely simplified our storage because the dashboards on the consoles show a clear understanding of where you are, and it is also very easy to provision. This been a big help for our teams.""It helps simplify our storage, because the user interface is very simple and the installation is easy.""The tool's most valuable features are data warehousing, speedy recovery, and analytics. Its latest release is cost-effective.""The most valuable feature of this solution is performance.""Using this solution has made our backups more reliable.""The initial setup was straightforward. If you know how to plug in power and network you're pretty much qualified. They were on site to configure the network, the box to fit into our network architecture. Other than that, we self-managed from there.""We have integrated it with VMware. The integration process is pretty good. Especially with VMware, it helps with the capacity of it."

Cons
"They could add more support for file storage and different types of storage.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""We need better data deduplication.""Our use cases require more multi-tenant capabilities and additional VLAN interfaces for separating different customers. We currently use it to provide storage, sometimes shared storage, to different customers, but it is less flexible in comparison to a dedicated solution.""The UI for this solution needs to be improved.""In terms of what needs improvement, the dashboard and management could be simplified.""I'd like to see the product implement active replication for vehicles such as VMware.""We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"This solution can improve by providing easier migrations and better Metro features.""Huawei OceanStor Dorado could improve the integration, there have been some compatibility issues with some operating system functions.""There could be local support services available for the platform. Additionally, they should provide a bundled license, including all protection and encryption rules.""Huawei OceanStor Dorado's biggest weakness is its lack of cloud integration.""It should have easy connectivity with the AIX, however, I've found that with AIX, it has some issues and due to this, we need to remove the exact fiber card sometimes and then plug it in again so that it can connect with the AIX systems.""The speeds of the disks themselves need to be faster. The disks are not flash. When we opened our hard drive from the inclusion, I saw a converter, and it's not entirely flash.""I would like to see them improve their IOPS per second to match their contemporaries in the industry.""If they implement a backup solution directly into the OceanStor then it will be a valuable feature."

More Huawei OceanStor Dorado Cons →

"In terms of scalability, it doesn't expand out quite as robustly as some of the others, but it covers 90% of the market in what it does.""It usually comes down to just what you hit and the value you're getting when you spend the money and license the products. I would always go, "If you want to make things better, lower your price and make your licensing simpler." There's always an opportunity around that.""Pure Storage FlashBlade should improve on more cloud integration.""The Pure Storage Orchestrator is our biggest pain point at the moment. If we can have more say in future developments of feature sets that we will need to support for our use case, that would be pretty beneficial to us.""I have not seen ROI.""The features provided for SMB customers are limited.""File storage needs a lot of improvement. Mainframe connectivity also needs improvement because it requires additional components to be integrated with Pure Storage FlashBlade. If you want to keep your backup data, then this becomes an even more expensive solution because Pure Storage FlashBlade will not be able to meet your backup needs.""I would like to have Snapshots and Snapmail in the next release. People who came from a NetApp background, especially expect these features."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The pricing is very competitive."
  • "There are lots of features included with this solution and some of them require additional licensing, such as creating high availability storage using a cluster."
  • "There are some costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, depending on the requirements."
  • "This product is not too expensive, and the price is competitive on the market."
  • "We usually recommend our customers choose advanced licensing and enterprise companies are more inclined to choose this solution because it is more cost-effective than competitors."
  • "The price of the solution is competitive compared to others, such as Dell EMC and Hitachi. I believe the reason they are providing a discount is they want to increase their penetration into the market."
  • "Huawei has very good pricing. They have some promotions that can be taken advantage of at certain times of the year, such as the end of December. They are providing aggressive pricing. In the Pakistan market, they are ready to beat any vendor in Pakistan because they want to grab the market."
  • "The price of Huawei OceanStor Dorado is very inexpensive, it cost approximately $5 per gigabyte."

  • "We used a reseller for the purchase."
  • "Our customers have seen a reduction in TCO."
  • "I have seen ROI. It has allowed me to increase the density of my VMs without having to purchase anything additional."
  • "Our licensing is renewed annually."
  • "Support is a separate line item. Support is a different cost, but whatever your support is now, that's what you're going to pay forever. If your support's $100 today, six years from now it's $100. It doesn't fluctuate unless you upgrade it, or change it, etc."
  • "The price is a little high."
  • "In my opinion, we have paid the right price for the product. I don't think that it is too much or too little."
  • "The price of this solution could be made more affordable."
