We performed a comparison between Informatica MDM and SAP Master Data Governance based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Master Data Management (MDM) Solutions solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The ability to aggregate and put together data from around fifty sources into one environment allows us to have a preview of everything in a single place, which is something we did not have previously in our company."
"Informatica MDM's most valuable feature is the interconnection between multiple Master Data domains."
"The most valuable features of Informatica MDM are the IDQ and RDM data management."
"It has improved our organization because it has made our data more reliable. Data is the most important asset these days, and in order to trust your data, you need these tools to make sure that your data is clean and reliable."
"It comes with lot of features and is a one-stop-shop solution for integration, data modeling, and data governance. Everything can be built under one particular umbrella. If any issues come up, then there won't be any blame game saying that it could be an integration issue or an MDM hub issue because it's wholly owned by Informatica. That's the biggest advantage of Informatica MDM over that of any other tools that are available on the market."
"The most valuable features of Informatica MDM are it is cloud-enabled and has all the elements that are supposed to have in terms of MDM as a solution. All the features that are there. It is very well-integrated with any of the SAP and non-SAP applications. It is quite user-friendly. The user experience that you receive in Informatica MDM is quite good."
"It has been leading the market with hierarchy management and all the different match concepts and algorithms. They're very robust."
"This is where I think MDM shines - with its strong fuzzy matching algorithm. This is the essence of Informatica MDM. Based on these results, I can write our match conditions and then perform the corresponding data management activities."
"Some of the features that I have found to be beneficial are the search and uploads functions."
"It is a stable solution."
"SAP Master Data Governance integrates well."
"SAP Master Data Governance is a customizable solution and is flexible."
"Validates all aspects from security to authorization and authentication."
"The scalability is very good."
"The solution is great at standardizing all of our records."
"We've found the solution to be quite flexible."
"The product could be improved in the area of architecture and technology. All the parts are old."
"Informatica's issue is the licensing. Right now, there are a lot of new gen MDMs that are offering a lot in a single licensing model."
"Informatica MDM can improve the data catalog and data marketplace."
"The on-prem solution is harder to learn than the cloud-based versions."
"The configuration process is pretty lengthy and challenging and could be made easier to understand."
"We promote our code changes from a lower to a higher environment, which is highly complex when working with a multi-domain MDM like Informatica. This is the biggest obstacle for Informatica MDM, and I think they should change it because that's very time consuming."
"Needs to implement the new workflow with simple steps and a quick visualization with a 360 view of the data."
"Inserting the GenAI into the master data management will reduce the overall effort of operational activities."
"The user experience can be improved."
"Lacks some features that are available in other solutions."
"The price can be improved."
"They should improve the solution's performance as sometimes the process consumes much time."
"The UI could improve by being more neat and clean. Sometimes users find it difficult to use it."
"It does not ensure data matches after system upgrades."
"Overall, they just a little bit more flexibility in terms of assigning roles or adding new roles. We have a longer approval process, so we need to break it down into more roles than what is typically available and we need to hard-code it."
"The product is not user-friendly."

I cannot offer insight into the licensing policy of each vendor as they are very varied and indeed can change deal to deal. Oracle for instance might give you limited database license if you use it specifically for MDM - but will audit you and bill you for full use even if you add one custom table! What it also means is that if are going with the big ones - you can negotiate!!
I can, however, help you with key MDM requirements as defined by Gartner.
-Workflow/BPM,
-Loading/synchronization/business services/integration (which is basically ETL) - but it gives you the ability to implement in different styles - centralized, registry, co-existence, consolidation
-Information quality, semantic consistency : this is for DQ capability and survivorship
-data modeling - strength based on metadata management, policy enforcement, dating and versioning
-Stewardship support (such as 360 degree view, where used, decay analysis, ownership)
-Governance (a combination of a lot of the above really)
-multiple use cases (Operational and analytical) - here you can use ERP/PLM/CRM as operational examples and APS and DWH as analytical use cases.
- multi domain (product, customer, supplier, account, HR, location, person) - Tricky, as many vendors including Oracle claim to be multi domain - but they do not use a single framework to manage multiple domains - that is really not multi domain because the CDO's office still needs to manage multiple frameworks and the cost of ownership is very high.
- data quality dashboards
- Task management (Advanced)
- multi device support
