We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The cloud management panel is nice.""The number one thing we like about Linode isn't necessarily a service, it's their support. We've found their support to be absolutely fantastic. They've been so outstanding with their support. Every single time we call them and we ask for advice or help, they go above and beyond and it's really made us appreciate what they do.""They have a very nice web interface to allow you to manage and reorganize your server.""I very much like the support that you get, and I think that it's excellent.""When it comes to the Linode Kubernetes Engine and the amount of automation it provides, it's awesome, it's a game-changer. If a process randomly dies, it could take me a while to notice that it has died, if I haven't set up monitoring. With Kubernetes, it will just restart itself using Heartbeats.""The ability to fire up a virtual machine, use it, and then kill it, is quite a valuable feature for me.""Generally speaking, I have not found any faults using Linode. For what we wanted, they provided a complete solution.""Linode offers cost-effective pricing, and it enables me to swiftly deploy my services."

"The most valuable feature is the monitoring.""The initial setup of Oracle Cloud is simple...It is a scalable solution.""The solution is easy to use.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the high level of performance for the databases.""It is more secure and more controlled than an on-premises deployment.""I find the interface to be great.""The flexibility is most valuable. By having our infrastructure in the cloud, we are able to spin up instances as needed and alter the capacity as needed.""The deployment is most valuable feature."

Cons
"Before they changed the dashboard, I found some of the more granular options easier to find.""The network between different servers isn't very good. I have to install additional solutions to link the servers with each other.""It's not really an issue with Linode itself but upgrading Linux major versions can be challenging. It would be be fantastic if Linode developed a way to ease transitioning to a major new Linux upgrade.""One thing that I'd really like to see is auto-scaling node pools for their Kubernetes. I don't think that they have that. That's a huge one and would be very helpful. Specifically, what I would like is auto-scaling node pools that would scale down to zero nodes, which is tricky. That's very important for certain use cases.""It would be helpful if they provided the additional Linux distributions that I prefer using. But there is still a workaround. I can do it without direct support. It's a bit more complicated, but it can still be done.""The product must improve its security.""Our primary concern is always the latency.""When it comes to marketing and exposure, Linode needs improvement because I just randomly found them by looking for Linux solutions."

More Linode Cons →

"They offer some basic services but the choice is not as rich as other cloud providers.""The customization and the requests put through were not flexible enough.""Lacking in additional PaaS services.""I would like the Oracle Cloud Platform to have a more user-friendly UI similar to Microsoft Azure.""The portfolio should improve for the Oracle Cloud Platform. Oracle has to increase the services offered. New services should be added to be able to compete better with Amazon AWS which is the best, and the biggest service. Oracle Cloud Platform has a small portfolio, but it's a good one.""Customer service could be improved.""Oracle Cloud's price is very high.""The integration tools that they offer are quite complex to use."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."

  • "Make sure you read the fine print."
  • "My ROI has increased."
  • "It's not that expensive. I think it's maybe half or one-fourth of our actual on-prem cost, especially in Oracle Data Integrator. It's pretty cheap. Maybe around $30,000 or $40,000 per month."
  • "Costing depends on if you have an existing license for the application and for the operating system."
  • "The cost may be a bit high for many potential users."
  • "The pricing is a little bit expensive compared to other products."
  • "Improvements can be made with respect to flexibility in the licensing model."
  • "There is a subscription cost rather than licensing for this product."
