We performed a comparison between MicroStrategy and TIBCO Spotfire based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two BI (Business Intelligence) Tools solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We have been using it mostly for grid reports and its exporting features."
"The most valuable features are ad hoc reporting and the ability to create dashboards."
"I like the user interface and the experience has been great."
"Dependency on development teams, as well as managing the platform, has reduced a lot with Visual Insight."
"On our mobile solution you can deploy up to 100,000 users. In our case, we're up to about 10,000 active users, and MicroStrategy's server technology behind the scenes, the Intelligence Server and the Mobile Servers, are very robust and they can handle the workload."
"Our primary use case is to deliver all data insights to our company."
"It helps all the store managers and supply chain people to obtain a view of the data and plan the next week, the next month, quarters, and so on."
"It drives us away from Excel. For what it is for, it is good. You can't run a business on Excel."
"One of the main features is integrated statistical analysis."
"We used it pretty heavily in gathering data, which goes to our VPs. They are able to base their next revenue planning based on this metric. So, it has been invaluable."
"Spotfire is excellent for scientific applications, especially because of its integration with RNG."
"The ability to create a real-time data mark, using just one piece of software, is the best feature of this product."
"The most valuable feature is the map visuals that help us connect to the geo-specialized data which is more advanced than other solutions."
"Live Query data on demand, R and Python integration, and the ability to write HTML and JavaScript text areas are all valuable features."
"The most valuable features of TIBCO Spotfire are visualization. It's very nice, clear, and, flexible. You can analyze many data types and the user interface is very good."
"It's scalable."
"Its price should be lower. In terms of features, what we have is quite encompassing right now."
"Our users tend to say the interface is a pain."
"Our data warehouse is sort of static; negative load and that is it. It is not as real-time as we would like. We are working on building that out first to create more real-time, at which point we will work on some potential integrations with other applications, but I don't think we are there yet."
"We did have issues with stability, and that was because we were co-located with another business unit, and we outgrew them on the unit. So we had to get to a separate physical instance."
"Lacks decent visualization and the process for creating new objects needs to be simplified."
"When we come to them with a problem, they might know more of a generalized solution, but not one targeted to our industry."
"It crashes multiple times for even small changes that I make on the fly in the dashboard. After doing all the necessary changes, the MicroStrategy desktop or even the web version kicks the users out, and all the changes are lost. This functionality is buggy in MicroStrategy. It is hard to keep track of all the changes that I have done before. I don't want to make copies of each change that I have made because I would end up creating a hundred dashboards. It is not feasible in a real environment. I haven't worked on integrating MicroStrategy with the cloud. I am not sure how it behaves in the cloud, but I have heard from a few of my friends that there are some hiccups when you kind of sync to the cloud through MicroStrategy."
"They need to improve the web."
"Personalising Spotfire, as a whole, is painful and is something that could be made easier."
"Compared to competitors, the UI is quite dated."
"We would like an easier way to get the product to the cloud. Right now, we have the on-premise version, and we would like to find a way to make it easier to migrate it over to the cloud."
"We would like to see some improvement in the default properties of the solution, so that there is less need for us to spend our time coding."
"I would like more easy-to-implement analytical algorithms. At the moment they include things like forecasts and regressions. They need to add a lot more of these types of things to the product because not everyone is a data scientist."
"When you do the data loading, it is slow."
"The Text Area feature needs to be more user-friendly. It is a little clunky to use, and it is difficult to consistently format text."
"The handling and consumption of realtime data could be improved."
