We should have something called micro segmentation inside the SimpliVity box, which can be easily implemented.

They are using backup from snapshots. Maybe they can integrate with VM or similar mechanics.

    What is our primary use case?

    We use it for a Tentacle system, which we provide to our customers. At the moment, it is not in full release, we have just been testing the following:

    • Virtualization
    • VMs.

    It has been performing well. It was more than what we expected. We have been testing it for three months now.

    How has it helped my organization?

    We are still on a PoC. We have not pushed it out that far.

    We are expecting the speed that we have seen so far.

    From a generic point of view:

    • The sheer speed
    • The sheer power.

    We had a standard HPE blade server. Our reseller put forward SimpliVity to us. We tried it out and tested it. I was like, "Wow." It blew us away.

    I was not involved in the initial setup, but I was told that it was very straightforward.

    What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    Cost is a factor. It is quite expensive.

    What other advice do I have?

    Most important criteria when selecting a vendor: price and service. HPE emcompasses these values.

    The most valuable features are the compression and backup.

    How has it helped my organization?

    Backups are done on disk, and no longer use tapes. Also, restoration of backups is within seconds.

    What needs improvement?

    None on technologies side, but the cost of the solution and support would need some improvement

    I have used it for one year.

    The most complete hyper-convergence infrastructure solution in the industry complying with the number one server platform in the market.

    Simplify the backup and restore: With integrated backup and remote replication, it could reduce risk and eliminates the use of legacy data tools.

    Definitely the deduplication and compression, for the optimization of disk space.

    Simplifies the operations of the server and the administration area.

    I think the support for the hypervisors needs to be on a higher level.

    We did not encounter any issues with stability.

    Nutanix. We switched because Simplivity deduplicates and compresses online and can be started with two nodes, without forgetting disk protection.

    Straightforward, it was set up very fast.

    You must perform a correct TCO study to find all the benefits.

    Nutanix, VxRail.

    Make sure to do correct dimensioning in the storage part.
