We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""While Microsoft Sentinel provides a log of security events, its true power lies in its integration with Microsoft Defender.""The Log analytics are useful.""Microsoft Sentinel comes preloaded with templates for teaching and analytics rules.""Investigations are something really remarkable. We can drill down right to the raw logs by running different queries and getting those on the console itself.""It is always correlating to IOCs for normal attacks, using Azure-related resources. For example, if any illegitimate IP starts unusual activity on our Azure firewall, then it automatically generates an alarm for us.""If you know how to do KQL (kusto query language) queries, which are how you query the log data inside Sentinel, the information is pretty rich. You can get down to a good level of detail regarding event information or notifications.""It is easy to implement (turn on) - does need a skilled analyst to develop queries and playbooks."

More Microsoft Sentinel Pros →

"Application control and traffic encryption are the most valuable features.""The best part is management in McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator.""The valuable feature of the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is the management of the policies.""The graphical interface of the solution is its most valuable aspect.""The security is a key feature and the console is very user friendly.""McAfee is helping us to clean all of the viruses from the machines, protecting our desktops from the latest threats.""The central management console is the solution's most valuable aspect.""Technical support is very helpful."

"ServiceNow Security Operations also takes care of GRC, governance, risk and compliance, enabling it to provide risk assessment.""The "follow" feature is really good. If the user is not responding, there's an option to "follow". Just click on the button, and it will automatically trigger an email to the end user.""The most valuable aspect of working with ServiceNow is its meaningful and feature-rich product.""It gives you the ability to bring data into the system. The workflows are out of the box, and it gives you the ability to auto-assign the incidents based on criteria and vulnerabilities.""Reduces time to closure and closure metrics for vulnerabilities.""It has helped optimize security costs by consolidating multiple tools into one platform.""What I found most valuable in ServiceNow Security Operations is that it's very useful for any incoming vulnerability. For example, if my team finds any vulnerability on servers such as the CA and CMDB integrated with ServiceNow Security Operations, my team can make some changes. My team can map the vulnerabilities found on the CA server, make the changes required, and resolve the vulnerabilities before the system is attacked. You can avoid vulnerability attacks through ServiceNow Security Operations, so this is the best feature of the solution. ServiceNow Security Operations is beneficial mainly for vulnerability response and engagement purposes.""The ease of use is great."

Cons
"Some of the data connectors are outdated, at least the ones that utilize Linux machines for log forwarding. I believe that Microsoft is already working on improving this.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""I would like Microsoft Sentinel to enhance its SOAR capabilities.""The on-prem log sources still require a lot of development.""There is some relatively advanced knowledge that you have to have to properly leverage Sentinel's full capabilities. I'm thinking about things like the creation of workbooks, how you do threat-hunting, and the kinds of notifications you're getting... It takes time for people to ramp up on that and develop a familiarity or expertise with it.""The troubleshooting has room for improvement.""I would like Sentinel to have more out-of-the-box analytics rules. There are already more than 400 rules, but they could add more industry-specific ones. For example, you could have sets of out-of-the-box rules for banking, financial sector, insurance, automotive, etc., so it's easier for people to use it out of the box. Structuring the rules according to industry might help us.""In terms of features I would like to see in future releases, I'm interested in a few more use cases around automation. I do believe a lot of automation is available, and more is in progress, but that would be my area of interest."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator needs to upgrade its technology since the solution's EDR function is not good compared to other vendors in the market.""McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator should improve its integration with other tools.""The Virtual Patching feature needs to be improved.""We would like to see more integration with different platforms and extend this to other platforms. We are migrating to the cloud and want to extend it from our on-premises setup to the cloud.""The rollout to cover the online resources, such as SharePoint, One Drive, and Office 365 doesn't seem to have a very clear path.""There are some issues relating to the automation of reports. That's why I wanted the DLP reports. There are some problems in this area. Sometimes it does not work even though all the configuration words are right. There are also some problems with automatic updates.""We need to consolidate multiple features into one console. It would be beneficial to have all the important features on a single platform.""There needs to be support for Mac computers. Currently, McAfee does not work on iOS."

More McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Cons →

"In future releases, I would like to add a follow-up and reminder feature. For the tickets in our queue, we could set reminders. This would help us prioritize older tickets before moving on to new ones.""Customer awareness and understanding of ServiceNow's SecOps capabilities could be improved.""It doesn't interact with things very well.""They should stick to the roadmap and continue to build plugins and integrations with other third parties, enhance the UI, and enhance the reporting. It's all good. They should just continue enhancing the releases.""It's very slow. When you click a button or update a field, it takes forever to actually react.""The initial setup is difficult.""The product is called SecOps, but it is not security operations in terms of SIEM solutions.""Process framework and best practices for ease of integration between IT and security teams via incident, problem, and change."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "Compared to other Antivirus products, the cost of this solution is a bit high."
  • "McAfee tries to package different things into different products, then sell them as different products with different licenses. They just split everything up into multiple things. That's just their sales pitch and how they do it."
  • "This solution is priced in the mid-range."
  • "For large enterprise companies, the price should be alright, but for small businesses, the uptake might be slow because, for these clients, the price doesn't look very attractive."
  • "It is attractively priced. It is a fraction of what we're going to pay for CrowdStrike or SentinelOne, but it only has a fraction of the capabilities as well."
  • "There is a license required to use this solution. If we use the additional components, such as DLP encryption, there is an additional cost. However, it is similar to a separate product altogether. If you want to use that or not, it is optional, but when you use it, it will cost you additional pricing."
  • "McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is not an expensive solution."
  • "$The price of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is expensive, it is approximately $6,000 to $9,000 per license annually."

  • "This product is a good value for the money."
  • "If you're going to implement it on your own, there would be internal costs. If you're going to implement it through a contractor or consultant, you have to pay for that."
  • "The solution is more expensive than BMC Remedy, the other ITSM tool available in the market."
  • "It is an expensive product."
