Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution now includes a multi-screen feature which is great.""It's simple and easy to use.""The tool shares computer resources perfectly.""The installation is straightforward.""The product saves time.""Everything is really good and it works well.""The most valuable feature of this solution at the moment is the HTML5 web client. You get a browser experience, not just the terminal sort of client, and the integration with Azure multi-factor application.""It's built into the operating system and has a command line interface capability to insert credentials, IDs, a password, et cetera."

"It stands as a robust setup with considerable capabilities.""The most valuable features of VMware Horizon in our education organization are its Graphics Virtualization Unit (GVU) integration.""Scalable and stable virtualization solution, with good technical support offering timely responses.""It is stable and easily scalable.""I like VMware Horizon's ability and performance.""We like that VMware is the top competitor in virtualization.""The most important feature of this solution is the connectivity with every device, such as iPad, iPhone, and other terminals. The security of the solution is very good.""The most valuable feature of VMware Horizon 7 is its ease of use."

Cons
"In the past, my company had faced some issues related to the stability of the product. The product's stability can be improved.""We'd like, in the future, if it would work with Linux or Unix-based operating systems or even Mac.""Users have to re-enter their ID and password every time they log on, which is tedious and repetitive.""Sometimes difficult to set up without the requirement for login credentials each time.""Microsoft Remote Desktop Services could improve by having graphical acceleration.""The administrative functionality is not enough for me.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is its security and simple configuration.""We face frequent disconnections."

More Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Cons →

"There are some issues with RAM in the system.""It is a little bit complex. You need a little bit of experience with ESXi installation and VMware before using this solution. You cannot directly jump to this solution. It also requires training. After you get trained, you can do anything with Horizon 7. In terms of features, it has been sufficient for my needs, but it can always have more features. They can maybe merge the servers. They can give the Horizon 7 server in one package with ESXi.""They could incorporate an application library for application learning and licensing.""The product integration on local client machines running Linux needs improvement.""There is room for improvement in the pricing model.""My deployment is complex and I hope it will only take a month.""The most important feature that is missing is the ability to do some remote support on the client itself. For example, if somebody has a Horizon client installed on his machine, there should be a way to support his local machine as well. That's because most of the problems can't be solved very often due to the computer or the setup that someone is using on his personal machine. Because a Horizon client is already installed on the machine to access the environment, it would be nice if the client itself possessed some sort of remote control tool in it so that if needed, we could support both the virtual setup and the actual setup of the machine. It pretty much does everything well. It is mostly the support aspect that can be improved. You have perfect control over your in-house environment. You have a solution that can pretty much be used anywhere, but you have no control over the machine that's being used to access your environment. Definitely, that's where most of the features are lacking. There should be an option for remote control and maybe some options for conformity.""I would like to see seamless integration with the cloud because right now, the dependency is on the cloud providers."

  • "Its cost is fair. You can go for a free trial, but for initializing a project, you need to purchase a license. There are different types of licenses."

  • "I don't know about the price. I know there are different tiers with the license, but I'm not sure exactly what it costs anymore."
  • "It is hard to know for sure. It is definitely in the $20,000 to $30,000 range. Previously, we used to change desktops regularly, and now we just change them when they break."

Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is a suite of valuable elements of the Windows operating system (OS) that serve specific desired objectives. Microsoft RDS integrates various features that allow approved users to gain access to graphical desktops and Windows applications remotely. Approved users are able to deploy applications or even a complete desktop without having to install anything on their devices. Everything remains in the cloud. This ensures that there are never any compatibility issues and keeps the organization's original network secure at all times. Administrators are also able to ensure that data cannot be stored in any unapproved location, such as the local device, unapproved drives, or any other location.

There are two basic ways organizations can effectively utilize RDS.

Once the user has gained a secure connection based on the approved administrative permissions, the user can seamlessly access and interact with the remote desktop. Users have the feeling of having this new virtual desktop installed directly on their machine.

    • RemoteApp: Users are able to easily access cloud-based applications via their own personal desktop computers or other approved mobile devices. This application ensures overall application management is centralized and consistent throughout the entire business enterprise.
