Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's a very good product overall.""The integration with the ticketing tool makes sure that there is a record for every issue.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward. It's not complex at all.""The event correlation is the most valuable aspect of the solution.""I've found the solution to be very scalable.""Purely, its flexibility is the most valuable aspect. It is hugely configurable.""It has the capability to display overall health of the infrastructure and is very useful for executive reports on the health of the infrastructure.""From our monitoring perspective or from a visibility perspective, HPE UCMDB is a must have. It's an amazing piece of software."

"The initial setup is a simple process.""The most valuable feature is definitely the flexibility of the schedule. The mobile app is quite also good for what we do: for receiving alerts, acknowledging, assigning, adding new responders. It has rich features for our needs.""PagerDuty's notification process is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable feature of PagerDuty is its integration with other tools, such as Amazon AWS, to receive notifications or create automatic instances.""The most valuable feature is the phone app that allows us to send notifications without the additional fees when sending by SMS or phone calls.""The initial setup is straightforward.""The SMS pages and the mobile application are pretty much the top two features.""It has scaled well for us."

Cons
"What needs improvement in Micro Focus Operations Bridge is its resource heaviness because you need many resources to deploy and support it. It's a good solution for larger organizations, but for small businesses, not so much.""The setup process can get a little bit complex.""The latest versions of the service reporting dashboards need improvement, such as service modeling.""The initial setup of this tool is complex for people who lack experience with it.""pology-based event correlation does not work well with NNM events.""I'm not aware of areas that need improvement.""In a future release, we would like an improved upgrade process. When you upgrade it now, it first uninstalls everything and then reinstalls all the packages, which means any customization that you've done in the directories on the surface disappears.""The pricing could be improved."

More OpenText Operations Bridge Cons →

"PagerDuty could improve the event orchestration by enhancing features, such as easier condition setup inside the orchestration.""The solution does not code all alerts correctly so sometimes you get false positives or multiple alerts for the same issue.""The user interface could be more intuitive.""Because of the way you have to structure the rosters, if an engineer has to go on leave (or something), you can't just go in and reassign/take this person out of all of the different rosters that they're in. You have to go into each of the rosters and take them out. There might be a roster for business hours, after hours rotation, and monitoring deployments. Each time we need to take an engineer out of the pool, e.g., if they're sick or on leave, then we have to go and touch all of those rosters, updating and replacing them. Whereas, if we could just take the person out and have it automatically fill in the rostering, then that would make life a lot easier for managing it.""The biggest area for improvement with PagerDuty is noise suppression. There have been a handful of incidents through our use of PagerDuty over the years where one incident may lead to 30 to 50 pages because you're monitoring all these different things, and each thing is an individual page. There should be the ability to set up paging tiers and group correlations between some of the different pages. That is something that would be really valuable. We should be able to say this one page may have a group or a tree of effective other pages that may tier off of it. So, if you see those pages independently, go ahead and alarm, but if you see this plus that, don't do that.""This solution works best in conjunction with a proper logging system, which can be an additional cost to organizations.""PagerDuty can improve the integration with Terraform.""The solution's analytics are okay. I don't think the features, at this point, give you a lot of insights. We have actually been trying to get insights from it but it hasn't really given us a lot of extra points to explore. We were looking at the number of alerts to see where many of the alerts were coming from. We never managed to get many insights on this."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
  • "It is competitive."
  • "Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
  • "The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
  • "The cost is very high."
  • "As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
  • "The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. • "Licensing costs are around $700 a month, and the only additional costs, are phone costs in some instances."

  • "If you add more people, then you have to pay more, which is always a thing with the SaaS solutions."
  • "If we wanted phone calls or additional SMSs, we would have to pitch up for those. They give us so many per month per user, then we have to pay extra if it goes over that."

  • "The solution is paid on a monthly basis and represents about 1% of the platform's budget."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the PagerDuty solution.

Brandon J., Director of engineering at a wellness & fitness company, says, "The SMS pages and the mobile application are pretty much the top two features."

PeerSpot reviewer Pramodh M., DevSecOps Consultant at a tech services company, comments, “The inbound integrations that PagerDuty provides with most of the DevOps tools are valuable. There is a flexible and easy way of integrating with monitoring tools. It allows us to configure the integration with APIs and plugins as well.”

Syed Mohammad A., Vice President - Operations and Client Services at a financial services firm, mentions, "PagerDuty let us set up rosters based on our shifts. We could assign a hierarchy for how the calls should be escalated and the number of times the call will be transferred between people before it is answered. It makes it easy to access an agent via mobile phone."

A Principal Architect at an energy/utilities company states, “The most important feature that is used is call scheduling. We are also able to actually call IT folks in the case of an emergency.”
