Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the reporting of incidents.""We've been in contact with Microsoft technical support mainly. After doing the research ourselves and troubleshooting, etc., if we can't find a permanent solution, we contact Microsoft to help us fix the issue. Sometimes the issue never gets fixed even by Microsoft. It can sometimes require us to reinstall the solution. However, these are very rare instances.""This solution is easy to use.""We use SCSM to manage all of our IT operations, including incident and service requests and problem management.""I've used SCSM a lot, and its features are valuable.""SCSM is easy to learn because all of the material, including training videos, can be found online.""I like the reporting service. SCSM has a good reporting service and analysis service for analysis requests.""For our cloud-based deployment of SCSM, the Autopilot is the best feature."

"I like the ease of use.""For the nuts and bolts running of an IT organization, I can't really say there's anything lacking feature-wise.""We always get good support.""The pricing of the product is quite good. It's not too expensive.""The feature that I have found most valuable from ServiceNow is the ability to assign sub-tasks to different teams, including problem tickets and the regular and chain tasks.""Discovery has reduced, on average, the time to build/deploy devices within our environment by one hour. This may not seem like much but it adds up over time. It also reaps additional time savings with its ability to capture changes through subsequent discoveries over the life of the device.""It is user-friendly and simple to use.""It has an excellent capability to integrate different access points."

Cons
"The solution could be more simple. For example, it takes a lot of work to create reports. It runs on Microsoft SQL queries. Creating custom reports on ManageEngine takes less work from the administrator.""The price of this solution is high and it needs to be cheaper.""My company had planned a few months ago to apply SCSM over the cloud in order to provide updates, like regular updates, but it had to be put through a few tools from Microsoft on the cloud, which was not easy.""It crashes our client's computers. Sometimes they get blue screens. It would be useful if SCSM could check the upgrades or patches before we implemented them to see if they are going to crash a client's system. Or, if it does install, and the client's system crashes, it would be good if the solution could revert back somehow.""There is no development with this product, and we had to go and buy additional ITSM solutions to sit on top of it. We had to buy products from companies like Cireson and Cased Dimensions in order to get the functionality that we need out of it. So, we're using Service Manager as an engine, rather than as a full-blown product. It is the engine, but we have other products sitting on top of it to make it work properly.""The configuration could be easier.""The logs and reporting-related features of the product have certain shortcomings where improvements are required.""It would be better if they had a portal for administrators. It would help me use it from anywhere and connect to any device from anywhere. I can administer the solution without a VPN."

More SCSM Cons →

"There's always a room for improvement in terms of the ServiceNow UI. For customers, the UI is something that is a continuous improvement.""Local solutions have lower costs.""The discovery of assets could be improved; right now they only allow for one domain.""Its setup is tough. It takes a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience.""The utilization of AI in ServiceNow needs enhancement.""It should enhance its offerings by providing the chance to obtain course certifications at an affordable fee.""I would like to see Advanced Intelligent Automation.""An area for improvement would be the accessibility of downloaded and compressed files."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is a lower price vs. other things on the market."
  • "It is an expensive solution."
  • "Licensing can be complex and confusing."
  • "The price should be lower."
  • "The price of the solution could be better. My organization has an enterprise annual license with Microsoft which provides us support."
  • "It comes free with the enterprise agreement that we have, but the expense really is in having to buy another product to sit on top of it to make it work properly. You wind up having to buy additional support and additional product with their own support and maintenance costs on top of that."
  • "The license for SCSM is cheap."
  • "I would rate the pricing as two out of five."
  • More SCSM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The first impact for the customer is that it is expensive, but do not forget that it is a solution that includes infrastructure; a single cost, easy to justify."
  • "It has a higher cost compared to local/regional solutions."
  • "We know that ServiceNow is not cheap, it's more expensive than other solutions. But we are trying to increase our ability to handle tickets so that the cost per ticket is less."
  • "It's sold as a less expensive solution, but it has to be highly modified. That's where you get into the cost."
  • "ServiceNow pricing is an art, not a science. The deal depends on how commercially savvy you are, which does make it something that is quite difficult to get right. It is most definitely an opportunity area for ServiceNow to improve and have more visibility around pricing of the different products within the platform."
  • "ServiceNow is a leader and its pricing is quite good, quite competitive... Sometimes some plugins are not priced reasonably but, generally, the platform itself, its modules, are priced reasonably."
  • "Isn't pricing always too much? We really do chafe at the ITIL licensing. ITOM is also pretty expensive."
  • "Initially, the licensing model ServiceNow came up with was very good. But now, from a licensing perspective, they are changing their model day by day. It is becoming a bit expensive for customers."
