We performed a comparison between Sophos Cyberoam UTM and Sophos XG based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the ability to work in proxy mode, which other solutions, such as Palo Alto cannot. There are some features that are better that come at no extra license or subscriptions cost, such as basic SD-WAN. The DLT is useful, other solutions have the same feature too, such as Palo Alto."
"The most useful functionality of Fortinet FortiGate is the user interface, multiple engines, and their cloud with the latest integrations. Additionally, the Security Fabric tool is very good."
"I really like the captive portal feature for our guest network. It has nice VLAN features in terms of separating our network. The anti-virus is also good."
"Secure, user-friendly, stable, and scalable network security solution. Installation is straightforward."
"Good anti-malware and web filtering features."
"The SD-WAN is the most valuable feature."
"The interface is very good."
"The Fortinet FortiGate local partners were good. I did not have direct contact with Fortinet support."
"The firewall feature has different branches, such as extended firewalls."
"The most valuable feature of Sophos Cyberoam UTM is the SD-WAN gateway."
"The solution is easy to integrate."
"Cyberoam UTM's most valuable feature is that it can be configured any way you like."
"It is a VPN that serves all your needs as an application firewall."
"The solution is excellent for web and application filtering and remote access with the VPN."
"There are plenty of features available, such as Full Guard and WAN."
"User and network policies to be managed on a single screen with powerful filtering and search options."
"The most valuable features of Sophos XG are the ease of management and good out-of-the-box reporting."
"The SD-WAN feature stands out as the most valuable aspect."
"The solution is more cost-effective than FortiGate, Cisco and Palo Alto, which have very expensive licenses."
"The initial setup is pretty simple."
"The VPN features and its capabilities are great."
"Sophos XG is very useful, it does many things."
"The updates are helpful and add to the solution in a positive way."
"Content filtering and intrusion prevention are most valuable. Our customers are fully satisfied with the performance of Sophos. It has all the features that they require in a firewall."
"Tunnel flapping was one of the major things I had seen wherein your internet link remains but your VPN tunnel is down. However, since I got a fix from the TAC team, I have not noticed it, but the customer complained a few times that they couldn't access the internet because of this problem."
"My only complaint about FortiGate is a lack of QinQ VLAN tunneling. I haven't found this feature in any Fortinet product. You can do this on all Cisco routers, including the smaller models. However, QinQ isn't available on the biggest, most expensive Fortinet units. They still don't have that. I think now we're on software version 6.0, and they still haven't found a solution for QinQ. It isn't a dealbreaker, but that's my main complaint."
"The sniffing packets or packet captures, can be simplified and improved because it's a little confusing."
"They should offer special pricing to premium partners and customers."
"Fortinet FortiGate could improve by having more capabilities for troubleshooting VPN connections. For example, I do get some feedback about the current status, but I could use some history and logging of important events. The information is logged in our Syslog server, but I could use that information from the device. If they could provide a GUI to have some more insight on what's going with my VPN would be useful."
"There are some complex administration tasks in their administration portal. That needs to be improved."
"There were quite a few problems with the stability of the system."
"Its price could be better."
"The VPN is an area that can be improved."
"I would say there's room for improvement in terms of the GUI. Because it is better than some of the other standard firewalls. They have the drag and drop features."
"VPN configuration is not very swift."
"The product had a hang issue. We needed to reboot, recreate the image, and reconfigure the previous image because the product hanged frequently."
"Its scalability is not that great."
"Hence, it needs to be easier to configure rules using the solution."
"Technical support could be faster."
"Needs a mail alert/notification when the device loses any of its connections, during ISP redundancy implementation."
"The manuals or guides we are given are too simple. When we are implementing the product, it is difficult for us as we don't have more detailed information."
"The UI needs improvement because it can be a little weird at times."
"The vendor doesn’t publish the price on the website."
"XG is at its end of life. People are moving to XGS."
"Sophos can improve the debugging of the WAPS function."
"In Sophos XG, the throughput for larger networks is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"While it is a secure solution, I believe it could be improved."
"The first area that needs to be improved is customer support."
