Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The intake feature is the most valuable in Workfront.""I can say it is a powerful tool. We have everything in-house in that tool, like, creating reports, dashboards, creating various workflows, and everything we have inside one application.""I also like Workfront's integration. The solution integrates natively with other systems. It's easy to connect Workfront to any product that has a customer service database, such as a CRM or service ticket management solution.""The tool is very user-friendly.""Monitoring the progress of projects and tasks is very effective.""Workfront is innovative and these were plenty of features that I found valuable while working at Logitech. Workfront had this feature of Project Schedule Templatization. This saves time and effort and even leads to the standardization of processes that are well-assorted. The Intelligent Graphical Interfaces of Workfront allow one to look at a specific type of resource and a specific phase for a specific family of products. You can get quite granular with the data and even zoom in or out of the timeline. It also categorizes projects according to classes and portfolios so that over time, you can more easily understand what are the various metrics involved in producing a specific portfolio Another important feature is Workfront allowing you to validate milestones and investigate the project. This also helped me to understand which projects are performing well and whether it was beneficial to invest in the same. The IT and the app configuration is quite secure and it is one of the benefits. One more valuable feature is the integration of communication systems inside Workfront. This helps you differentiate between normal business emails and project-specific conversations. This is also known as ‘queues’ and I absolutely find this feature extremely powerful.""The solution is stable.""Feature-wise, I would say that its overall ability to be infinitely customizable is valuable...My experience with the support team has been amazing."

"What I like about the product is its extensive features, particularly the wide set of attributes for tracking issues. Jira Portfolio allows us to track not only the overall project but also specific components within it. This is beneficial for all stakeholders, including developers and business owners. For example, business stakeholders can track all issues, regardless of status.""Jira Portfolio is useful for tracking time and hours. It's easy to manage, create tickets, and change the status of delivery reports. It's not complicated.""We have found the solution to be stable.""Portfolio helps us increase the visibility of projects' status and management with remote workers who make up most of the company.""The developers can simplify tasks and each one of them can undertake a task and then they continue with development. Our processes are more efficient and easier for our manager and developers to track them. Their work is more organized.""Having an option to view dependencies between projects and teams is great.""JIRA Portfolio has many wonderful features.""The way to manage cards as a KANBAN, is really easy but when you need to track hundreds of projects, you need to be very clear in which way the things must be completed."

Cons
"I would say that the stability, honestly, has gone down since the Adobe acquisition, and the quality when they roll out their updates.""Our product and graphic designers are working with various Adobe products, but Workfront has a no-frills interface. It's a useful tool with everything we need, but it could be a little more attractive and present information in a polished way. It's a web interface, so it's accessible, but the appearance could be a little slicker.""The interface can also be customized to fit and accept many tools for better performance and customer service improvement.""Sometimes there are glitches when we are reviewing an interactive proof.""Workfront's reporting capabilities must be improved.""I have used the product and instantiated it, almost seven years back. The process was fairly complex, however, I don't know if they have changed the same now. But this is something I think, if not addressed can be improved. Another area that needs a little attention, is the change of implementation lead. Back when we had Workfront instantiated, we often had our timeline delayed due to the change in the implementation lead. Now Workfront is under Adobe and, in case, this issue, isn't fixed it should be given due attention. Also, Workfront is a universal tool, which can pose a difficulty for small businesses and companies, who don't have the required time, effort, and knowledge to configure it periodically.""We were having some difficulties creating different kinds of reports and dashboards.""The solution's visualization feature could be user-friendly."

More Adobe Workfront Cons →

"As there are no perfect solutions and considering that I rate JIRA Portfolio's stability an eight out of ten, I feel it is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required.""JIRA and Confluence must be linked automatically.""The solution's look and feel could be a bit more intuitive and user friendly.""The solution’s pricing could be reduced.""Jira has room for improvement in terms of managing various projects and linking requirements centrally under one project. They could include some add-ons that enable you to link all the requirements and put them into a centralized place. That central place should be restricted to a limited set of users with privileges based on user groups with those rights.""Learning JIRA is not so easy. There is a learning curve.""Our major team does not control or manage JIRA server well since sometimes there is trouble using the solution, which is a problem. The solution's speed needs to be improved.""When I want to embed Jira Portfolio in a complete HLI cycle, I'm missing things to evaluate my ethic into my value stream."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing of Workfront is completely license based."
  • "Adobe purchased Workfront in the past year, and they're putting work into developing the platform, so I expect the price to rise. It isn't cheap, but it's reasonable for the value it provides. It isn't Monday.com where you pick a license with a set price, and you've got a project manager."
  • "We are partners with Adobe, so we get the licensing at a cheaper rate."
  • "Speaking about pricing, I wouldn't recommend it to a smaller company because I do think the price point is higher than other solutions that can work."
  • "The pricing is a barrier to implementation. It is expensive compared to other competitors. Speaking about licensing, they have a private manager license for $1000, which you can use for administration as well. Then they offer a worker license for $500, and then a reviewer or contributor license which is free."

  • "This solution has a comparable pricing in comparison to other similar products on the market."
  • "The pricing of the solution is expensive."
  • "We only have nine people using it so we have a standard cost of $150 dollar per year. There are only additional costs if you exceed the limit of users, then you start paying by user. The cost is significantly higher."
  • "The pricing continues to get higher."
  • "The product is really not very expensive."
  • "We pay our fees annually, although monthly payments are also available."
  • "The price could be improved."
  • "We have a license to use JIRA Portfolio, we are not using the free version."

Jira Portfolio is an agile roadmapping tool designed to help teams build plans, envision the big picture, track progress, and share the process with stakeholders.

Jira Portfolio is planned based. A plan in Portfolio is a complete view of the tasks, teams, and release dates for your Jira projects.

Once you start to create a plan, there are three main factors you need to define:

    • Scope: A list of tasks that need to be carried out in order to complete the plan.
    • Teams: Who will be implementing the work? With the correct data in place, Portfolio can estimate how long it will take for the team to complete their tasks.
    • Releases: Your scheduled release date.

With Jira Portfolio, you can create a visual timeline to gain visibility across each of your teams and projects in a single place from a granular level and review cross-team and cross-project dependencies to prevent bottlenecks. This visibility can help you plan realistic release dates and manage your team’s capacity. The solution allows you to try out different scenarios with your roadmap and resources to help guide your decision making. Once you have a solid plan, you can easily integrate with Jira Software and commit your changes.

Jira Portfolio allows managers to easily add team members. The tool’s powerful scheduling algorithm assigns tasks to teams while taking priorities and dependencies into account so it can create a realistic forecast for project completion.

    Jira Portfolio Benefits

Some of the top benefits of using Jira Portfolio include:

    • Roadmaps and roadmaps dependencies: Roadmaps list details about the tasks that need to be executed in order to complete a project, as well as predictions for when they will be completed, which teams are in charge of the task, and a list of resources they require. By setting dependencies on your team’s roadmaps, unnecessary bottlenecks are avoided.
    • Integration with Jira: Jira Portfolio is dynamically integrated with your Jira Software project data and constantly pulls your latest data from Jira Software, allowing you to plan your projects with updated information.
    • Envision scenarios: Create what-if scenarios and save them to Jira if you decide to adopt them.
    • Reporting: Share capacity reports and more to allow team members and stakeholders to gain visibility and insights into the process.
    • Task completion estimation methods: Estimate how long a specific task will take and compare these estimations with the actual time to completion to help assess team performance and efficiency and improve the accuracy of estimation calculations over time.

    Reviews from Real Users

Jira Portfolio stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its roadmap creation tools and its flexibility.

Meeta L., a lead product manager at a tech vendor, says, “The valuable features of the JIRA Portfolio are the customization it provides which is very useful and the Agile project management capability.”

Juan P., a senior IT project manager at Avantica, writes, “Portfolio helps us increase the visibility of projects' status and management with remote workers who make up most of the company.”
