Scalability is nice. The multi-tenancy feature is very welcome. The integration with Linux works fine too.""There are many backup options available in this solution. Cons

It would be good to cover this area if it doesn't have those.""The support could be more knowledgeable and faster.""The time to backup servers that sit in DMZ must be improved.""It takes much time to verify and consolidate images for backups.""I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again.""The only problem with the solution is that when I change the drive capacity, it has to do a full backup. It's a problem when I have five servers to backup. When I only want to change the size of the drive, I have to do a full backup that can take one week.""StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast.""The product is not user-friendly."

"The solution is not that stable because it has to be monitored and administered every day. The stability could be improved.""There have been issues with performance and some features.""The solution must provide a different way to schedule backups.""The pricing is a bit of a concern. The UI is not very friendly.""The implementation process could be simplified to make it quicker.""The security and performance could improve with Veritas NetBackup. Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I do not work with the pricing or licensing issues of the solution for our organization."
  • "We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
  • "Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options."
  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."

  • "Licensing was very expensive and did not scale well if needed to move between license models."
  • "Smaller virtualized environments will want to stick to a traditional licensing model if possible. It will likely be cheaper, but it is a pain to manage all the individual licenses for each client."
  • "So far I can only say that the license structure could be looked at to be aligned as either capacity-based or traditional."
  • "If you have a complex environment with dozens of different servers and apps, I recommend you look for TB licensing."
  • "The software and license are very expensive."
  • "Pricing is pretty costly as compared to the other products but worth investing for the long term and high ROI."
  • "Acceptable if you need to implement it for larger environments, e.g. over 1000 clients. For smaller setups it might be too expensive."
  • "The licensing model is cost-prohibitive as you scale out."

    Reviews from Real Users

Mahdi B., Solution Architect and IT Consultant at Merdasco - Rayan Merdas Data Processing, says, “Veritas integrates well with the cloud, all databases, all operating systems, all hardware, and all software. Veritas also has solid malware and ransomware protection features. From time to time, we face a new kind of attack, and Veritas has always proven to be the best protection solution for some of my customers. Our customers who have faced ransomware attacks were able to recover their data in less than one day without any stress. Veritas is ransomware resilient and because of its implementation, it is not dependent on the operating system to work. Most of the functions of the Veritas software are isolated from the operating system and it's not dependent on the operating systems involved. This is very important. When some of our operating systems are infected by a virus, Veritas still works perfectly and protects our data. This feature is very well implemented in Veritas NetBackup.”

A PeerSpot user who is a General Manager at a comms service provider relates, “Veritas enterprise has many agents who perform the backup, whether it is a consistent backup or recorded backup. The solution has everything from the snapshot to the multiple database agents.”

Mir-Ali, Infrastructure Manager - Oracle SCM at a financial services firm, shares, “It covers all kinds of different architectures. Plus, it's very user-friendly and it is very reliable. Reliability is the most important thing because once the backup is done, if it is successful, then we're sure that it was successful and we will be able to restore it.”
