We performed a comparison between Dynatrace and AWS X-Ray based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Dynatrace is the preferred choice over AWS X-Ray due to its extensive features such as real user monitoring, session replay, and synthetic monitoring functionalities. The interface is user-friendly, and it is more scalable than AWS X-Ray. AWS X-Ray is functional, but reviewers suggest improvements in log filtering and user interface configuration.
"It is a very scalable solution."
"The most promising feature of AWS X-Ray is that you can debug the issues through the proper logs. You can also get an analysis out of the logs for some use cases, though I have yet to try all the features of AWS X-Ray."
"The most important one is compliance. We're able to achieve our regulatory levels. We're able to achieve the security level that we need for the federal government."
"AWS X-RAY identifies bottlenecks in terms of stability and performance and how long certain data lives in terms of response time and duration."
"AWS X-Ray is a strong solution and has a smooth integration process."
"The solution has made it easier for us to trace the problems that we have with our requests and to monitor the timing of each step in each request we do in our endpoints."
"In terms of explaining to a customer how their data works, it has been a great tool. Instead of trying to draw it out, then hoping that is exactly where the data goes."
"OneAgent, the new platform of Dynatrace, it is called artificial intelligence (AI), so basically that artificial intelligence correlates multiple infrastructure competence transactions services and application processes. It is one of the most important features, so when there is a fire break, you do not have to go multiple hops to go look where exactly the issue is."
"Scalability is outstanding. It won't tax our environment at all as it will scale sideways."
"Dynatrace is a powerful tool for full stack monitoring with APM capabilities and AI root cause problem analysis. This helps our customers with their digital transformation and gaining insight into their infrastructure."
"We use it for monitoring all the applications in our bank, and it works fantastically."
"It is a 100 percent stable solution...Dynatrace is a highly scalable product since it is a SaaS-based application."
"Some of the troubleshooting features for development, the PurePath technology in AppMon, are valuable. The dashboarding gives us some good insight into some fluctuations in some of the application areas."
"Helps in managing capacity planning, services performance, and tuning database performance and optimizing queries."
"Like most Amazon products, the user interface, configuration, and tuning aren't the easiest. That's the biggest reason why people tend to go to products like TerraForm and Terragrunt. We use TerraForm and Terragrunt. So, for setting things up and interacting with X-Ray, it's definitely the user interface that can be better."
"The user interface is sometimes kind of confusing to understand. It's not very user-friendly."
"If you have a small team, it's probably overkill."
"They can improve how traces are sent to other providers."
"I do not have any notes in terms of improvements."
"What needs to be better in AWS X-Ray is the log filtering. Predefined filters could be helpful because the power of analytics comes from how you can filter the data. I also want to see more KPIs from AWS X-Ray."
"They expect the customer to do the basic analysis, do all the solutions, and find the solutions themselves. If it is really a product problem, only then will they be able to identify and spend time on the customer."
"We had one issue when we tried to enter one agent and it just does not work. We got to work with the highest level of support, but it took a while to get there."
"This solution would be improved with the addition of annotations for automated custom metrics creation."
"There are a lot of features that could be added that would make this a very useful solution, but it is getting there."
"I would like them to add serverless capabilities, because everyone is going there."
"The problem evaluation feature is an awesome idea, but bit difficult to pick up initially."
"The user interface needs to be improved."
"Its infra monitoring is not that good. They are mainly into the APM environment, such as network monitoring and other things. Strong end-to-end infrastructure monitoring is missing. SNMP monitoring is currently not very good in this solution."
