Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"BMC Helix Discovery is very intuitive.""BMC provides great support. As managed service support, they are gold.""The speed at which it's able to collect a wide-range of information, then make it useful for you, like asset management, knowledge management, and incident management.""The solution is very stable and powerful.""It now comes with a very flexible deployment solution, whether you want to keep it inside your data center or want to have the cloud, depending on if you're cloud forward or not.""The most valuable feature of the solution is its application dependency mapping.""I like the artificial intelligence and machine learning that it uses in the solution. Because once the solution discovers all the assets, all the infrastructure, and all the dependencies between services, it learns how it works. So, it learns to predict when a problem is going to happen. It becomes predictive in an autonomous way.""It is a stable solution. The stability is okay."

"The most recent is VMDR, which provides a comprehensive overview of how to detect, patch, and remediate specific vulnerabilities.""The most valuable feature is that this solution is very lightweight.""Provides great functionality.""Monitors workstations and servers for vulnerabilities and creates reports.""The process of defining and discovering scans is organized efficiently.""Performs automated, regular scans in the network.""It's really beneficial for scanning and interacting with the agent.""Qualys VM's most valuable feature is automatic detection."

Cons
"BMC Helix Discovery needs more customization options.""I would like to see the ability to scan some of the newer cloud platforms. I know that BMC has them on the roadmap, and they are coming soon, but they can't come fast enough. Being able to scan more of GCloud, Alibaba Cloud, or whatever the public clouds that our customers are buying, we need to make sure that Discovery can find them as well.""An area that can be improved is the IoT.""The product falls short compared to storage discovery mechanisms offered by Tenable or ServiceNow ITOM. In the market, there are various applications available that provide different sets of features. Its drawback is that it doesn't give the database configuration customers need out of the box. Additionally, the classification of storage virtualization is relatively lacking. Therefore, there is room for improvement, particularly in the database areas.""The monitoring tools could be more stable.""The product is not fully automated.""A review of end of life data would be nice.""The support from BMC Helix Discovery can improve, it takes a long time before we receive any feedback. It can take days to months sometimes."

"The reporting needs improvement. It should generate much more stuff like field reports.""The reporting and the GUI need improvements.""Qualys VM should improve its methodology.""I do not like that all of the data is stored on the cloud.""Qualys VMDR is basically susceptible to false positives, and false negatives.""Qualys VM's machine learning and artificial intelligence features could be improved.""It's not very user-friendly at times and requires in-depth understanding. So, a layman or someone new to Qualys won't be able to easily understand it. You need education to use the solution.""We are moving away from Qualys to Defender ATP because I find that Defender ATP is much better at prioritizing the vulnerabilities that I should be looking at."
