We performed a comparison between Broadcom Clarity and OpenText Project and portfolio Management based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Project Portfolio Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The interfaces for project management, portfolio management, and reporting services are always helpful."
"The dynamism of the application where you can modify it to fit your needs is valuable. For example, you can create fields, metrics, and measures on the fly. You don't have to be limited to what the out-of-the-box format would be. It allows you to generate fields, metrics, and reports off of that with relative ease."
"The competency and available support are quite good, therefore we do not have any issues with support. Every time that we have a case where we need support, it is clarified right away."
"The new UI makes it easier for people to go in there and know what to do. To train people, it's faster, more intuitive."
"The most valuable features of Broadcom Clarity PPM are demand, project, and product management."
"The most valuable feature is the portfolio functionality because we have the ability to work with different scenarios and many kinds of financial management. We can integrate with ERP, and with other solutions from third-party vendors. The financial model in Broadcom Clarity PPM, it's the most valuable aspect."
"Absolutely, the most active community I have ever been on."
"Right now, it's the PPM piece of it, the scheduling, the Gantt, the task view."
"Scenario comparison is the feature most valuable to us and the reason why we decided to choose HPE PPM over other portfolio management products."
"Recent Program Management lifecycle, Program Management aggregation views due to interactive UI (selection of risks, issues, and changes in Program Overview) and “flash look & feel" of this functional chunk, which is different in comparison to other parts of HPE PPM."
"I like the ease of customization from an admin perspective. I'm really excited about some of the things that are coming in version 10.0.3 as far as what admins are able to do."
"Resource management: The resource management module is very complete and covers most of the time all needs of customers."
"There are so many different pieces of functionality, and we use almost every single piece from deployment to demand, project, resource, and time management."
"The portfolio management and the resource management are the key features."
"It is very important that the platform gives us a single place where we can measure progress toward goals, as we have weekly meetings with the CTO. We present these consolidated overviews and dashboards to him so that he has an overview of all the projects and can see the status of all the problems that we have and we are working on."
"Overall, they have a very strong workflow management capability. That's a very strong feature because then you can model any process easily. Whether it is a demand management process, a pipeline management process, or your project delivery methodology, it is much easier because of their workflow management capability."
"We see it as overhead. Let us collect all the data in one place. Which, it is always nice to have everything in one place, but it does cause that overhead."
"We use a product called TFS and we would definitely like to see integration with that. It's not there right now. Agile Central is the one that is integrated with."
"The integration needs to be improved with Jaspersoft and Microsoft Project."
"One of the limitations would be mapping our current agile processes in the same tool set without obviously integrating to a different type of tool set within the same portfolio."
"The forms (e.g., project properties page) need to be more attractive, colorful, and field more flexibility for validations."
"We use Service Desk Manager as well. We have a custom tool to integrate the two. One of the reasons why PPM was chosen was because, "Well, it must integrate with SDM, because they're the same company." But that was not the case."
"As far as a tool that communicates with resources, with individuals - what they're supposed to do next or what action items came out of what meeting - it's not really used that way. Probably I could envision a way that it would be used that way. Until it's as easy as sending an email, it probably won't be utilized by the resources in that manner."
"We're looking at adding the Agile piece to it. I want to make sure that that integration is very smooth."
"Micro Focus PPM should be less dependent on coding. It could also benefit from some updates to the software architecture. These have been on the roadmap for years now, but they haven't been released."
"Portfolio scenarios: This is a very powerful feature. However, it’s limited to analyses."
"There are some limitations when it comes to attaching receipts. For example, if we are going to buy some non-labor-related assets such as hardware, we are not able to attach the receipts in the Financial Management module in version 9.41."
"User interface continues to be poor. The product does not have a similar view in the different modules, e.g., staffing vs financial management, it looks like you are working with a different product and it is not easy to use or intuitive."
"Currently, HPE PPM does not allow “Project” approval, but only simple “Demand Request” approval (mobility)."
"Sometimes features in PPM don't work as expected, or our users request a new feature. Typically, our partner vendor can deploy those changes. But there have been a few instances when we had to raise it with Micro Focus because it's beyond the ability of our partner vendor. When we raise the issue with Micro Focus, it sometimes takes time because it needs support from other customers using PPM, not just our bank. It goes through a voting system. Other customers need to vote for the feature. The features that get the most votes will possibly be added."
"We had a couple of issues with stability or performance degradation about a year ago, around the time of the initial rollout. Since then, we've only had two unexpected outages that were quickly resolved."
"They can make its UI better. Currently, the UI is a bit clunky."
